A beautiful Enchantress disguised as an old beggar woman arrives at a castle during a ball and offers the host, a cruel and selfish Prince, a rose in return for shelter from a storm. When he refuses, she reveals her identity. To punish the Prince for his lack of compassion, the Enchantress transforms him into a Beast and his servants into household objects, then erases the castle, the Prince, and his servants from the memories of their loved ones. She casts a spell on the rose and warns the Prince that the curse will only be broken if he learns to love another and earns her love in return, before the last petal falls.

Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice. The original Broadway production ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

“ROYAL is proud to share this tale as old as time and we would like to invite you to “Be Our Guest” as we celebrate the 20th year anniversary of ROYAL Theatre Company,” said Karen Kilgore, President of ROYAL Theatre Company.

The streets of Victorian England come to life in Oliver, the timeless, award-winning musical based on Charles Dicken’s Oliver Twist.  Oliver begins his struggle-filled life as a malnourished workhouse orphan who becomes the neglected apprentice of a slimy undertaker and his selfish, controlling wife.  Eventually he escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a gang of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin.

When Oliver is arrested for a theft that he did not commit, the victim, Mr. Brownlow, shows mercy – which Oliver has never seen, and takes him in. Unfortunately, Fagin fears for the safety of his criminal hideout and employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap Oliver and bring him back.  The smothering life of crime once again threatens Oliver’s chances of ever fully escaping the harsh streets and discovering the true love of a family.
