Stage Right Announces Auditions for Cinderella

Williamstown, KY – Stage Right Musical Theatre Company is thrilled to announce auditions for their semi-professional winter production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, running January 29 – February 7, 2027 at the Williamstown Performing Arts Center. All Roles are available, with evening rehearsals beginning December 29, 2026 Auditions are open to kids 8-17 and Adults 18+.

One of the most beloved fairytales of all time comes to the WPAC stage in a dazzling celebration of magic, romance, and hope. This version is inspired by the iconic 1997 television event starring Brandy and Whitney Huston, featuring
toe-tapping classics like “In My Own Little Corner” and “Impossible.” Cinderella is a true theatrical spectacle full of enchantment, humor, and heart. With fairy godmothers, princes in disguise, and a message that kindness and
courage can change the world, this Rodgers & Hammerstein favorite invites audiences of all ages to believe in the impossible. Perfect for families, dreamers, and anyone who loves a classic fairytale told with modern magic, Cinderella is a spellbinding night at the theatre.

Performance Information:
Rehearsal Dates: Sundays – Fridays Dec 29 – Jan 28. Stage Right values the time of its artists and works with the production team to make sure actors are only called if they are working.
Show Dates: January 29-February 7, 2026 (Weekend performances, with Student Shows Feb 2 & 4)

What to Prepare: -A Current Resume and Headshot -A 32 bar cut of musical theatre song in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided. -Properly marked Sheet Music for accompaniment (Acapella auditions will not be considered)

A dance audition and cold readings will also take place following your singing audition.

This show is a semi-professional production. Compensation is determined based on previous professional credits and experience. Not all roles are compensated. This production, as part of our “community company” series, gives an
opportunity for less experienced performers to work in a professional environment and gain credit before entering a professional theater experience. Character Description: Unless specifically noted below, all roles are open to people of all races and gender identities.

CINDERELLA (F | 20–30): Strong actor, soprano, and capable musical theatre dancer. A kind-hearted, imaginative young woman with an infectious generosity of spirit. In our production, Cinderella is an artist and visionary. She is someone who sees possibility and beauty where others see scraps, limitations, or things without value. Her creativity is not simply an escape from her circumstances, it is how she understands and transforms the world around her. Despite being belittled for the very qualities that make her extraordinary, she maintains a sense of curiosity, ingenuity, and hope. Please note: this role requires on-stage intimacy.

HER FAIRY GODMOTHER (F | 30–60): Strong mover and actor. An enchanting, motherly figure with a hint of mischief in her eye. Rather than giving Cinderella her imagination, the Fairy Godmother recognizes the creativity that is already there and gives her the resources to bring it to life. She sees Cinderella’s sketches, dreams, and creative potential and becomes the first person to truly say, “What if we made it real?” Warm, playful, and magical without losing her humanity.

HER STEPMOTHER (F | 35–60): Excellent comedic actor, strong singer, and capable mover. Cold, conniving, and determined to marry her daughters to the Prince at any cost. She values status, appearances, tradition, and propriety, and Cinderella’s creativity challenges everything she understands about what makes something, or someone, valuable. Her resentment is rooted not only in Cinderella’s position in the family, but in her inability to control or understand the imagination that makes Cinderella unique.

GRACE (F | 20–30): The older of Cinderella’s two stepsisters. Awkward, clumsy, and prone to an insatiable rash when she gets nervous. Grace has been raised to believe that being desirable means fitting perfectly into society’s expectations, which makes her desperation to impress the Prince both ridiculous and strangely sympathetic.

JOY (F | 20–30): The younger of Cinderella’s two stepsisters. Not always quick on the uptake, often sullen, and equipped with a piercing, high-pitched, supremely obnoxious laugh. Like Grace, Joy has learned to value appearances and status over individuality, leaving her ill-equipped when things do not go according to plan.

CHRISTOPHER (M | 20–30): A charming young prince searching for his purpose and an identity beyond the expectations attached to his title. Having spent his life surrounded by wealth, beauty, and carefully constructed appearances, he is captivated by Cinderella because she offers something genuinely new: originality. His journey is not simply about finding a bride, but discovering someone who sees possibilities beyond the world he has always known and beginning to imagine those possibilities himself. Please note: this role requires on-stage intimacy.

LIONEL (M | 20–45): The Prince’s royal steward and confidant. Dry, witty, intelligent, and possessing a great command of the stage. Lionel understands the rules, traditions, and expectations of palace life and helps keep its carefully ordered world running.

QUEEN CONSTANTINA (F | 40–65): The Prince’s mother; strong actor, singer, and capable mover. The Queen is loving but firmly rooted in the traditions and expectations of royalty. She wants what is best for Christopher, even when her understanding of “best” is shaped by the polished, proper world she has always known.

KING MAXIMILLIAN (M | 40–65): The Prince’s father; strong actor, singer, and capable mover. A warm royal presence who, like the Queen, inhabits a world built around tradition, appearances, and established expectations. His relationship with Christopher should reveal both genuine familial love and the pressure of being born into a life that has largely been planned for you.

CHARLES: A cat who is magically transformed into Cinderella’s Coachman. Part of the Fairy Godmother’s transformation of Cinderella’s imagination into reality; strong physical characterization and committed storytelling are essential.

4 WHITE MICE (any age): Cinderella’s tiny companions who are magically transformed into Horses. Playful, expressive performers who help bring Cinderella’s fantastical vision to life through strong physical storytelling.

A DOVE: Magically transformed into Cinderella’s Footman. Part of the world Cinderella has imagined becoming real; strong movement and physical characterization are encouraged.

ENSEMBLE (any age): Villagers, Merchants, Maidens, Palace Guests, and others who populate Cinderella’s world. The Ensemble is essential to establishing the contrast between a kingdom that begins polished, proper, and predictable and the increasingly imaginative world Cinderella inspires. Strong singers, movers, actors, and storytellers who are excited to create distinct characters are encouraged to audition.
