Auditions Announced for HOLIDAZED 2 at Village Players

VP_new logoThe Village Players of Fort Thomas is holding auditions for HOLIDAZED 2, co-directed by Teri Foltz and Angela Klocke Forbes, on Wednesday, August 21 at 7:00pm and Thursday, August 22 at 7:00pm.

Location: Village Players of Fort Thomas at 8 North Center for the Arts (in the street-level Judith M. Sarakatsannis Gallery), 8 North Fort Thomas Ave., KY, 41075.

  • Cold readings from the scripts and/or director-selected monologues.
  • Head shot and resume appreciated but not required.
  • Roles available for all ages, ethnicities, and genders. Ages listed are approximate. Casting will be flexible. (M = male presenting; F = female presenting.)

On a snowy day in 1952, Maureen Lyon is murdered in London. Across the country, Mollie and Giles Ralston prepare to open their new guest house, Monkswell Manor. Their four guests arrive for the night: Metcalf – a retired military major, Mrs. Boyle – a magistrate, Christopher Wren – a young architect, and Miss Casewell – a blunt young woman. An unexpected and mysterious foreigner named Paravacini soon joins the mix. The next morning, the Ralstons receive a phone call saying a police officer is on his way. Upon his arrival, Sergeant Trotter reveals that the police believe the next murder will take place at Monkswell Manor. The police’s primary suspect is an unknown man who was abused, alongside his sister and little brother, under Mrs. Lyon’s foster care as a child. As a result of the abuse, the other boy died. Now, the police believe the surviving brother is looking for revenge. But who is he? As the guests speculate, they discover the phone line has been cut. Mrs. Boyle is discovered to have been the magistrate that sent the children to the foster home. Minutes later, she is found murdered. After Mrs. Boyle’s body is found, suspicions rise and the guests begin to turn on each other, believing another murder is imminent. The pasts of some of the guests are revealed before Trotter finally suggests they all walk through their actions at the time of the murder to test their alibis. After everyone disperses to their positions, Trotter calls Mollie in. He then reveals that he knows Mollie was the schoolteacher of the abused children. He blames her for ignoring a plea for help. Trotter finally reveals himself to be Georgie, the surviving brother. He disguised himself as a policeman to infiltrate the guest house. He is about to kill Mollie when Miss Casewell stops him, revealing that she is his sister Kathy. As Major Metcalf reveals that he is really an undercover policeman, Miss Casewell leads the subdued Georgie away.

Auditions Announced for SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER at La Comedia Dinner Theatre

La Comedia Dinner Theatre in Springboro, Ohio, is holding an open call audition for its upcoming production of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER on Saturday, July 27, at 10:00 a.m. at 765 W. Central Ave., Springboro, Ohio.

  • Tony Manero…19-25. Handsome, charismatic, Brooklyn Italian. Ringleader of his gang of friends – The Faces. Tough exterior, vulnerability underneath, comes alive when he dances. Strong actor, singer, dancer. Brooklyn accent. Range A2-G4
  • Bobby…19-25. One of The Faces, genuine, struggles to do the right thing. Strong singer/mover. Brooklyn accent. Range C3-A4
  • Gus…19-25. One of The Faces, the follower, not afraid to lie to cover himself. Strong singer/mover. Brooklyn accent. Range E3-F#4
  • Double J…19-25. One of The Faces, the charming jokester. Physically the toughest of the gang, good comedic timing. Strong singer/mover. Brooklyn accent. Range C3-F#4
  • Joey…19-25. One of The Faces, the wise guy with connections. Strong singer/mover. Brooklyn accent. Range E3-A4
  • Monty…can be any age. The MC, DJ, Gatekeeper of 2001 dance club. Good looking with a big personality. After Tony, he’s the coolest guy in town. Strong singer/ mover. Range B2-G4
  • Frank Manero…40-mid 50’s. Tony’s father, out of work construction worker who feels the world has turned against him. Brooklyn accent.
  • Frank Jr….20’s. Tony’s brother who has left the priesthood. Humble and full of good advice. Strong actor with Brooklyn accent.
  • Stephanie Mangano…19-25. Puts on airs to hide Brooklyn upbringing. Can lack tact at time but is still likeable. Strong actor, singer, dancer. Brooklyn accent. Range Bb3-F#5
  • Pauline…19-25. Sweet, optimistic girlfriend of Bobby. Strong singer/mover. Brooklyn accent. Range G3-E5
  • Annette…19-25. Eager to please, the puppy dog, hurt that Tony doesn’t have feeling for her. Strong actor, singer, dancer. Brooklyn accent. Range F3-C5
  • Candy…can be any age. The resident singer of the club 2001. Confident and loved by everyone. Does a great deal of singing. Range A4-G5
  • Linda Manero…15-18. Tony’s little sister, spunky.
  • Flo Manero…40-mid 50’s. Tony’s mother, very devout in her religion, cares deeply for her family, especially Frank Jr.
  • Ensemble…male and female. Age 19-mid 50’s to play townspeople and most importantly dancers in the club 2001. Strong singers/dancers/movers.

Please prepare a 32 bar disco song, or song appropriate to the 1970’s, a song from the show is acceptable. Show lots of energy and personality.

Rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 3 (Mon – Sat 9AM – 6PM)

Performances September 19 – October 27, 2024. Thurs-Sun matinees and evenings.

Auditions Announced for MY THREE ANGELS at The Drama Workshop

TDW_VERTThe Drama Workshop and director Dennis Murphy are pleased to announce auditions for MY THREE ANGELS by Samuel Spewack and Bella Spewack based on La Cuisine Des Anges by Albert Husson.

Performance dates: Dec. 6-22

Synopsis: The scene is French Guiana, a region where on Christmas day the temperature has graciously dropped to 104 degrees. Three convicts are employed as roofers by a family, whose roof is in desperate need of maintenance. On the way from France is an evil-minded cousin, to oust the father of the family from his business, and his cold-blooded nephew, who is jilting the father’s daughter for an heiress. The three convicts—two of them murderers, the third a swindler—take the visitors on. All three have warm hearts and are passionate believers in true justice. Possessing every criminal art and penal grace, they set matters right and in doing so redeem themselves as real life angels to the grateful family.

Audition Requirements: Please bring a headshot and resume, and your conflicts from August through December. An audition form will be emailed to those who sign up. You will be emailed the sides ahead of time so you can be prepared. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Callbacks will be held on August 7th, 7-9pm if needed. All cast members are required to be up-to-date with Covid-19 vaccinations before rehearsals start.

Character Breakdown: listed ages are approximate stage ages:

Felix Ducotel – (M 35-55) An honest man, kind to a fault, who has no guile and is easily pushed around. He is very formal, and insists on wearing a business suit in the tropical heat for propriety’s sake. Married to Emilie, father to Marie Louise.

Emilie Ducotel – (F 35-55+) Felix’s wife. Marie Louise’s mother. The glue of the family, frustrated by her husband but still very much in love with him. She is the anchor of the family and really ought to be running the shop.

Marie Louise Ducotel – (F 18-25) Daughter of Felix and Emilie. A young girl in all regards, she tends towards the dramatic, but she has a good heart. Madly in (and out of) love with Paul.

Mme. Parole – (F 40+) An overbearing patron of the shop, talkative and verging on the uncouth. She does not care to pay her tab at the shop.

Joseph – (M 30+) Convict #3011. A natural-born salesman, he could sell ice to penguins. Imaginative and a smooth-talker. Loves selling and making deals.

Jules – (M 30+) Convict #6817. A romantic soul, he is perhaps the most “normal” of the convicts. He loves creature comforts and does his best to make the Ducotel’s Christmas a happy one.

Alfred – (M 25+) Convict #4707 – The youngest and most immature of the convicts, he’s the muscle of the crew, and easily the most dangerous. He keeps a pet snake, and he has an eye for Marie Louise.

Henri Trochard – (M 35+) Felix’s cousin by marriage. A man with little kindness in his heart, he sees everything, including love, in terms of profit margin.

Paul – (M 18-25) Henri’s son. In love with Marie Louise, but unwilling to cross his father over the matter. At the end of the day, he is much more like his father than he realizes.

Lieutenant – (M 18-25) A handsome naval officer with a letter of introduction to Felix. Tired after a long night’s work. (Basically a walk-on role at the end of the play.)

Production Dates: Performances run 3 weekends from December 6th through Dec 22nd, 2024. There are a total of 10 performances. Friday 8pm, Saturday 8pm, Sunday 2pm each weekend, with a Thursday 7:30pm performance the final weekend.

Rehearsal Plan: Rehearsals will be planned around actors availability.
