The show begins with Michael and Agnes on their wedding day and traces their life together over a period of 50 years, until the day they leave their house to the next pair of newlyweds. In that time we watch them go through their wedding night jitters, raise a family, negotiate mid-life crises, quarrel, separate, reconcile and grow old together, all lovingly to the strains of a tuneful, charming score which includes the standard “My Cup Runneth Over.”

Covedale’s CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF Earns LCT Recommendation

Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized Covedale Center for the Performing Arts’ CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF as a recommended production.

In this Tennessee William’s classic, a plantation house family celebrates the sixty-fifth birthday of its patriarch, Big Daddy. But the mood is tense, despite the festivities, as long-simmering evils poison the party. Greed, sins of the past and desperate clawing hopes for the future spar with one another as the knowledge that Big Daddy is dying slowly makes the rounds.

One panelist praised the production as “dynamic and layered.” Another commented that “I could feel that I was witnessing the family dynamics of a real family.”

Final LCT awards will be determined at the end of the season and announced at the LCT gala in the spring.

CCPA Announces Cast for CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF

The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts announces the cast of their 2012-2013 season opener, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF.

Directed by Greg Procaccino, the cast includes Katie Hamilton Meyer as Maggie, Cliff Nunley as Brick, Brent Alan Burington as Big Daddy, Mindy Seibert as Big Mama, Torie Pate as Mae, Brian Griffin as Gooper, Mike Hall as Reverend Tooker, Bob Allen as Doctor Baugh & Marcus L. Simmons II as House staff.  The children are portrayed by Kyra Fuller, Lauren Webster, Catherine Tuttle, Will Tuttle and Hank A. Griffin.

CCPA Presents 11th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair

The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, located at 4990 Glenway Avenue in West Price Hill, will hold the 11t h Annual Arts & Crafts Fair Saturday, August 18, 2012, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

60 local artists will be on hand to display and sell their original works at this OUT DOOR EVENT! Mixed media will include: pottery, jewelry, enamel painted iron tiles, woodworks, oils, water colors, graphic art, fiber art, acrylics, photography, ceramics and so much more!
