CINCINNATI, APRIL 29 – Described by the Los Angeles Times as a “cultural phenomenon,” Dear Evan Hansencomes to Cincinnati’s Aronoff Center April 30 – May 12 as a part of Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati’s season presented by TriHealth. In advance of the start of performances, the production announced today that it will host a digital ticket lottery offering fans the chance to purchase a limited number of $25 tickets available per performance.

The digital lottery will begin accepting entries 48 hours prior to the first performance in Cincinnati and will be accepted until 9 a.m. local time the day before the performance. Fans who have been selected will be notified daily via email and can then purchase up to two (2) tickets at $25 each. The ticket lottery will continue on a rolling basis for every performance in the engagement. Entrants must be 18 years or older. A valid, non-expired photo ID that matches the name used to enter is required for pickup. Seat locations awarded by the lottery are subject to availability. Additional details and times will be announced in each tour city by the local theatre box office prior to the engagement. The winner of six 2017 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Dear Evan Hansen features a book by Tony Award-winner Steven Levenson, a score by Grammy®, Tony® and Academy Award® winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La LandThe Greatest Showman), and direction by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (RentNext to Normal).

Declared “One of the most remarkable shows in musical theater history” by the Washington Post’s Peter Marks, Dear Evan Hansen opened at the Music Box Theatre to rave reviews on December 4, 2016, where it’s broken all box office records and struck a chord with critics and audiences alike.

In addition to winning six Tony awards, Dear Evan Hansen has won numerous other awards, including the 2017 Drama League Award for Outstanding Musical Production and for the off-Broadway production, two Obie Awards, a Drama Desk Award, and two Outer Critics Circle Awards and two Helen Hayes Awards. The Broadway production recently celebrated its two-year anniversary with a special donation to the Smithsonian, where the show’s iconic blue polo and arm cast will now be part of the permanent collection at the National Museum of American History in Washington D.C.

The Grammy Award-winning Original Broadway Cast Recording of Dear Evan Hansen, produced by Atlantic Records, was released in February 2017, making an extraordinary debut on the Billboard 200 and entering the chart at #8 – the highest charting debut position for an original cast album since 1961 – and went on to win the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. A Deluxe Album of the Grammy-winning cast recording, with six bonus tracks including “Waving Through a Window” performed by pop star Katy Perry, was released digitally by Atlantic Records on November 2, 2018.

A special edition coffee table book authored by Levenson, Pasek and Paul, Dear Evan Hansen: through the window (Grand Central Publishing / Melcher) is now available, offering an in-depth, all-access look at the musical, including never-before-seen production photos and cast portraits, behind-the-scenes stories, and a fully annotated script by the authors.

In addition to the touring production and the record-breaking Broadway production, Dear Evan Hansen will launch its first international production in Canada, in March 2019 at Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre, followed by a production in London at the Noël Coward Theatre later in 2019.

Dear Evan Hansen features scenic design by David Korins, projection design by Peter Nigrini, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and hair design by David Brian Brown.  Music supervision, orchestrations and additional arrangements are by Alex Lacamoire.  Ben Cohn is the Associate Music Supervisor.  Vocal arrangements and additional arrangements are by Justin PaulDanny Mefford is the choreographer.  U.S. Casting by Tara Rubin Casting/Xavier Rubiano. Sash BischoffAdam Quinn and Danny Sharron are the Associate Directors. Judith Schoenfeld is the Production Supervisor. 101 Productions, Ltd. is the General Manager.

Producer Jeffrey Seller and Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati presented by TriHealth announce a digital lottery for HAMILTON tickets will begin in conjunction with the show’s first performance (February 19) in Cincinnati at the Aronoff Center.  Forty (40) tickets will be sold for every performance for $10 each.  The digital lottery will open at 11:00 AM ET on Sunday, February 17 for tickets to the Tuesday, February 19 performance.  Subsequent digital lotteries will begin two days prior to each performance.

HOW TO ENTER THE DIGITAL LOTTERY

  • Use the official app for HAMILTON, now available for all iOS and Android devices in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store (http://hamiltonmusical.com/app).
  • You can also visit http://hamiltonmusical.com/lottery to register.
  • The lottery will open at 11:00 AM ET two days prior to the performance date and will close for entry at 9:00 AM ET the day prior to the performance.  Winner and non-winner notifications will be sent at approximately 11:00 AM ET the day prior to the performance via email and SMS (if mobile number is provided).  Tickets must be purchased online with a credit card by 4:00 PM ET the day prior to the performance using the purchase link and code in a customized notification email.  Tickets not claimed by 4:00 PM ET the day prior to the performance are forfeited.
  • Each winning entrant may purchase up to two (2) tickets.
  • No purchase or payment necessary to enter or participate.
  • Lottery tickets may be picked up at will call beginning 2 hours prior to the performance with a valid, non-expired photo ID that matches the name used to enter.  Tickets are non-transferable.

Tickets for HAMILTON are currently on sale.  Patrons are advised to check the official HAMILTON channels and CincinnatiArts.org for late release seats which may become available at short notice.

HAMILTON is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary.  Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway, HAMILTON is the story of America then, as told by America now.

With book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and music supervision and orchestrations by Alex LacamoireHAMILTON is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.

The HAMILTON creative team previously collaborated on the 2008 Tony Award ® Winning Best Musical IN THE HEIGHTS. 

HAMILTON features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe, casting by Telsey + Company, Bethany Knox, CSA, and General Management by Baseline Theatrical.

Broadway in Cincinnati announced today that a limited number of seats in the front sides of the orchestra section will be available for $25 for every performance of RENT, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical.  The $25 tickets are available for in-person purchases at the Aronoff Center Box Office, located at 650 Walnut St., on the day of each performance only, two hours prior to the show.  The $25 tickets are limited to two tickets per person, cash only.  Line can begin forming 2 ½ hours prior to the show.

The tradition of these tickets began in 1996 in New York when the show moved to Broadway after a sold-out run in a small downtown theatre.  The producers of the show are committed to continuing the tradition of offering these orchestra seats in each city the show will play.

Cincinnati Actors Win Tickets to THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG With Your Stage Mishap Story

Cincinnati Actors – please share your stories!  To celebrate the upcoming presentation of THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, Broadway in Cincinnati is putting together a short video featuring local Cincinnati actors telling their funniest true stories of things going wrong onstage (or backstage.)  We will be filming actors telling their story this Thursday 11/15 at the Aronoff Center’s 5/3 Bank Theater from 10am-12pm.
