Carpenter Artisan Sought by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

Job Title: Carpenter Artisan

Responsibilities: This position is assigned to the Scene Shop and is primarily responsible for building scenery, load-in and strike of shows. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Competencies:

  • Self-motivated team player that handles pressure well while working in a deadline oriented industry and embracing a safety orientated work environment..
  • Able to self-critique and correct their work while maintaining sensitivity to the overall artistic vision is paramount.
  • A BFA in Technical Production or equivalent experience, with 3 years additional professional experience.
  • A documented ability to produce high quality finished scenery from theatrical construction prints using a variety of materials including wood, steel, aluminum, foam, plastics, and fabric.
  • Proficient in steel MIG welding.
  • Experience with CNC and vacuform machinery, and construction techniques.
  • Experience with stage rigging, both counterweight and chain motor.
  • Familiarity with installation, operation and maintenance of stage and scenery equipment such as winches, pneumatics and hydraulic actuators, and motion control systems.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical principals and safety, including basic troubleshooting and reading of schematics.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands:

  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Able to climb and perform work on ladders.

This is a full-time, seasonal position and is represented by IATSE Local 5. Current IATSE membership is not a prerequisite. Benefits include health insurance and paid vacation. Position begins immediately.

RENT 20TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR

AT THE ARONOFF CENTER BOX OFFICE

Broadway in Cincinnati announced today that a limited number of seats in the front sides of the orchestra section will be available for $25 for every performance of RENT, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical.  The $25 tickets are available for in-person purchases at the Aronoff Center Box Office, located at 650 Walnut St., on the day of each performance only, two hours prior to the show.  The $25 tickets are limited to two tickets per person, cash only.  Line can begin forming 2 ½ hours prior to the show.

The tradition of these tickets began in 1996 in New York when the show moved to Broadway after a sold-out run in a small downtown theatre.  The producers of the show are committed to continuing the tradition of offering these orchestra seats in each city the show will play.

RENT performs at the Aronoff Center from December 11 – 23, 2018. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Friday at 8:00pm, Saturday at 2:00pm and 8:00pm and on Sunday at 1:00pm and 6:30pm. For more information, please visit BroadwayinCincinnati.com.

Additional Audition for Men Announced for THE DROWSY CHAPERONE at Loveland Stage Company

LSC_logoLSC is looking for a few good men to round out the cast of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. Speaking roles and ensemble roles are available.

Prepare 16 to 32 bars of a song, dress comfortably for a dance audition (bring tap shoes if you have them), and there will also be cold readings.

Show dates are March 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17.
