The Carnegie Announces In-Person and Digital Auditions for
SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN

Rehearsals: Evenings and weekends Dec 5th – Jan 27th. We will not rehearse every day, but this is the date range for rehearsals. 2 weeks off will be given around Christmas and New Year Holidays.

The “Greatest Movie Musical of All Time” is lovingly adapted for the stage, with each unforgettable scene, song and dance accounted for, including the show-stopping title number, complete with an onstage rainstorm! Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue and a hit-parade of popular songs like “Good Mornin,” “Moses Supposes,” and “Broadway Melody,” make Singin’ in the Rain the perfect entertainment for any fan of the golden age of movie musicals.

In Person Auditions by Appointment:
Please prepare 32 bars of an uptempo song or 16 bars of a ballad in the style of the show. Bring sheet music for the accompanist, as well as headshot and resume for production team. There will be a dance audition, so please dress for movement and bring tap shoes. You may be asked to stay and read scenes or sing from the score.

• October 16- Groups beginning on the hour 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm
• October 17- Groups beginning on the half hour 6:30pm, 7:30pm, 8:30pm
• October 18- Groups beginning on the half hour 6:30pm, 7:30pm, 8:30pm

Auditions by Video Submission. What to send:

• 32 bars of an uptempo or 16 bars of a ballad in the style of the show
• A comedic or romantic monologue no longer than 1 minute in length
• A movement reel featuring both tap dancing and jazz movement.

Please send video with resume and headshot attached to Theatre Director at The Carnegie, mperrino@thecarnegie.com by October 15 @ 10pm to be considered for the show.

Auditions will take place in The Carnegie Education Center. Please use doors on Robbins St. by flying pig statue to enter. Carnegie Address: 1028 Scott Blvd. Covington, KY, 41011.

ALSO NOTE:

• You will be asked to turn in a full list of conflicts for rehearsal dates listed. Please have that prepared if asked to provide this info.
• No performance conflicts will be accepted.
• Cast members do not have to be the actual ages of the characters, but must be able to look age appropriate and act accordingly.
• All Adult Roles are paid. Stipends offered will be between $800-$1000 for all roles. Not AEA eligible. No housing provided.
• Student Roles are included in the production as part of our Education Department. As such, The Carnegie Theatre Series commits to making opportunities for children and teens on our mainstage once a year. These roles are not paid, nor is there any cost associated with this educational experience.

COVID-19 Policies
The Carnegie fervently encourages all auditioners to seek the Covid-19 vaccination before attending auditions or rehearsals should they be cast. It is in the best interest of our cast, crew, and artform if everyone is vaccinated in our show circle. A return to theatre-making is only possible if we help protect each other. Rehearsals may be conducted in masks depending on Covid situation at the time. Performances and audiences will not be masked.

Available Roles
The Carnegie is committed to inclusive, non-traditional casting of classic musical theatre shows to give them new relevance and accessibility to all actors. All races, ethnicities, ages, gender identities, body types, and mobilities encouraged to apply.

Adult Roles

• Don Lockwood: Male-presenting, handsome song & dance leading man; must sing & dance (especially tap) extremely well; vocal range: G2-Ab4.
• Cosmo Brown: Male-presenting, high energy, very athletic comedian; must sing & dance (especially tap) extremely well; tumbling & acrobatic ability a plus; vocal range: C3-Ab4.
• Kathy Seldon: Female-presenting, bright and spunky ingenue; must sing & dance (especially tap) extremely well; vocal range: G3-F5.
• Lina Lamont: Female-presenting, silent film diva with a big personality and a grating nasal voice; strong comedic skills a must; may double in the dance ensemble
• Adult Ensemble: 4 roles. Will cover a variety of characters such as Miss Dinsmore, R.F. Simpson, Rosco Dexter, Dorothy Bailey, Movie Stars, Featured Tenor, and Dance Ensemble. Must be strong dancers and singers, especially tap.

Student Roles

• Teen Chorus: 8 roles for students 14-18. Will include a variety of ensemble roles such as party guests, movie stars, fans, and dance chorus. Must be strong dancers and singers, especially tap
• Youth Chorus: 4 roles for students 10-14. Will include Young Don and Young Cosmo as well as roles as fans, children, and movie extras. Must have some experience with dance, tap dancing a plus, and strong singers.
