Directors Sought for 2022-2023 Season at The Footlighters, Inc.

FLI_Directors 2022-2023Directors sought for the 2022-2023 season at The Footlighters, Inc. in Newport, KY.

The Footlighters, Inc. is accepting submissions for directors for the 2022-2023 season. Interested directors must submit an application and a theatrical resume. Directors will be allowed to submit up to two productions for consideration. One of those productions must come from a list of shows selected by Footlighters, and one can be of the applicant’s choosing. All submissions will be considered equally regardless of whether they are from the list of potential productions or independently selected by the director.

We are seeking directorial candidates who feel they can bring a fresh and inclusive perspective to the shows they’ve submitted, and we encourage directors from diverse backgrounds, whether you’ve directed for Footlighters before or not, to apply.

Please visit https://www.footlighters.org/directors-submissions-2022-2023 to download your application and to view the list of potential shows.

All submissions must be emailed to the Season/Director Committee Chair, Chad Brinkman, at Footlighters.Director.Submission@gmail.com. The deadline to submit materials is Sunday, October 17, 2021. Interested directors will be contacted to schedule interviews for the week of October 18 or 25. Interviews will take place at the Stained Glass Theatre or will be conducted virtually via Zoom.

We will produce a four-show season for 2022-2023. Each production will have 14 performances in our very own Stained Glass Theatre.

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder and its accompanying director have been previously selected to fill one of these production openings. Therefore, we will be selecting three directors and three productions to complete the season.

Should you have additional questions or need assistance, please email Footlighters.Director.Submission@gmail.com, and we will be happy to help.

THE ODD COUPLE Female Version Runs Sept. 30-Oct. 16

FLI_The Odd Couple FV logoTHE ODD COUPLE Female Version
Footligthers, Inc.
Sept. 30-Oct. 16
[Newport]

Directed by Tom Peters
Produced by Cathy Lutts & Freida Houck

Cast: Jen Drake as Olive, Stefanie Adams as Florence, Mary Stone as Mickey, Elizabeth Hickerson as Vera, Stephanie Klein as Sylvie, Jessie Faye as Renee, Adam Drake as Manolo & Jeff Richardson as Jesus

Neil Simon’s revision of his hugely successful play, The Odd Couple, sees the lead characters transformed into Olive Madison and Florence Unger. Olive and their group of girlfriends are enjoying their weekly Trivial Pursuit night in Olive’s messy and ill-equipped apartment. As the game continues, Florence arrives, fresh from being dumped by her husband. Fearful that the neurotic Florence might try to harm herself, Olive invites her to move in as her roommate. However, Olive and Florence have VERY different personalities. Where Olive is messy, untidy, and unconcerned about the state of her apartment, Florence is obsessively clean, tidy, and obsessed with hygiene. Olive’s easy-going outlook on life soon clashes with Florence’s highly-strung neurotic tendencies, testing their friendship to the limit. When Olive organizes a double-date with the Costazuela brothers, their differences come to a head and sparks fly.
