I DO! I DO! Canceled at Cincinnati Music Theatre

CMT_Studio Series logoWe are deeply saddened and disappointed to announce that due to the evolving impact of the coronavirus and the directives from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine regarding the ban on public gatherings until further notice, the Cincinnati Music Theatre (CMT) production of I Do! I Do!, scheduled for June 5, 6, 12, and 13, 2020 at the Aronoff Center’s Fifth Third Bank Theater, has been cancelled.

This was a very difficult decision to make, but your CMT Board of Trustees feels it is in the best interest of our many volunteers and audience members to keep everyone safe and healthy. We look forward to the time when we can once again gather to enjoy the friendship and collaborative efforts involved in our favorite hobby, live theater.

For those of you holding tickets for I Do! I Do!, we would like to offer you three options for the tickets you purchased, which will be processed by the Cincinnati Arts Association’s Ticketing Services staff:

CREDIT your account for the value of your ticket(s) toward a CMT 2020-2021 Season subscription. Details about purchasing a subscription will be available later this summer.

DONATE the value of your ticket(s) to Cincinnati Music Theatre (a not-for-profit community theater) to help us continue our mission of providing high-quality musicals at an affordable price to the audiences of Greater Cincinnati.

REFUND the value of your ticket(s).

Contact CAA Ticketing Services at ticketing@cincinnatiarts.org no later than May 1, 2020 with your preferred ticketing option from the list above: CREDIT, DONATE, or REFUND.

SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN Cancelled at Cincinnati Music Theatre

This was a very difficult decision to make, but your CMT Board of Trustees feels it is in the best interest of our many volunteers and audience members to keep everyone safe and healthy. We look forward to the time when we can once again gather to enjoy the friendship and collaborative efforts involved in our favorite hobby, live theater.

We are offering three options for all tickets purchased for Singin’ in the Rain, which will be processed by the Cincinnati Arts Association’s Ticketing Services staff:

  1. CREDIT your account for the value of your ticket(s) toward a CMT 2020-21 Season subscription. Details about purchasing a subscription will be available later this summer.

Recently named as “one of the ten best musicals of the last decade” by the editors of Theatremania, BANDSTAND features music by Richard Oberacker and book and lyrics by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberacker.

This Regional Premiere production is produced by Kathy Beiting and directed by Skip Fenker, with music direction by Kendra Struthers and associate Michael Spresser and choreography by Mike Fielder.

BANDSTAND will play at the Jarson-Kaplan Theater, Aronoff Center for the Arts from November 13 – November 21, 2020.

Auditions Announced for BELOVED MELODIES at Cincinnati Music Theatre

Announcing Auditions for BELOVED MELODIES: The Best of Rodgers and Hammerstein

This thrilling revue highlights the legendary team’s brilliant music with songs from their celebrated collaborations such as South Pacific, Oklahoma!,The Sound of Music, Cinderella, The King and I, Carousel and others.

Musical talent of any race/ethnicity, disability, sexual identity, age, and gender/gender identity are encouraged to audition. Both adults of all ages and young performers (ages 12-18) will be cast.

Audition Dates:

  • Sunday, June 14, 1-6pm
  • Monday, June 15, 6:30-9:30pm

Callbacks will be held Wednesday, June 17, 6:30-9 PM. Those invited to callbacks will be asked to participate in a dance combination and perform a selection from the show.

Production rehearsals begin mid-July.

  • After you sign up, you will be emailed an audition form. Please EITHER complete and email back to the director, or print and bring the completed form to your audition along with your resume and headshot. Walk-ins are welcome and will be seen in the next available slot.
  • Please prepare a song selection (one 32-measure cut) from the Golden Age of musical theater (ca. 1940-1960).
  • Please bring sheet music in the proper key with cuts marked. An accompanist will be provided. No tapes or a cappella numbers, please.
