Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) calls THE WEDDING SINGER a 4 Star production. Produced by Northern Kentucky University Department of Theatre and Dance, the show is a musical send-up of an 80’s wannabe rock star, making ends meet as a wedding singer, who changes his tune when he is left at the altar, but then meets the waitress who could help him get back on track.

“This is the type of bold, brassy, high-energy musical that highlights the talents of the NKU students,” extol LCT panelists.

Additionally, Ronnie Chamberlain’s authentic and bright huge array of costumes were recognized by LCT panelists, as one panelist noted “which covered the gamut from wedding dresses and tuxedos to business suits to impersonator outfits to typical casual dress of the 1980s…a costume warehouse!”

For more information about THE WEDDING SINGER and other upcoming shows please contact NKU’s Theatre & Dancehttp://artscience.nku.edu/departments/theatre/boxoffice.html

Nominations for LCT awards will be determined and announced at the end of the season and winners awarded at the annual LCT party in the summer.

The Carnegie’s DRIVING MISS DAISY Awarded a 4 Star Recommendation

Reggie Willis as Hoke & Dale Hodges as Daisy Wertham.

Panelists praised the production noting that this acclaimed 1987 play is “still fresh” in the hands of the Carnegie and “should definitely be seen by all”. Both lead actors, Dale Hodges as Daisy and Reggie Willis as Hoke were highly applauded: ‘Dale Hodges proves again that she is a member of Cincinnati’s acting royalty…both their performances were masterful and full bodied…they act with such skill that you don’t see any technique or tricks.”

In DRIVING MISS DAISY ornery, strong-willed widow Daisy Wertham has just demolished another car, leaving her son no recourse but to hire her a driver. His chosen chauffeur? Hoke, a thoughtful, unemployed black man who couldn’t seem to have less in common with his wealthy, Jewish client. The odd couple endure humorous and heartwarming struggles in their forced relationship, giving way over twenty-five years to a closeness and understanding that transcends the Civil Rights era in the Deep South.

Carnegie’s DRIVING MISS DAISY runs through November 16th. Tickets can be purchased at www.thecarnegie.com.

Nominations for LCT awards will be determined and announced at the end of the season and winners awarded at the annual LCT party in the summer.

Playhouse in the Park Presents Beloved Holiday Classic A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Nov. 26-Dec. 28

CINCINNATI PLAYHOUSE IN THE PARK AND U.S. BANK PRESENT THE BELOVED HOLIDAY CLASSIC
A CHRISTMAS CAROL, NOV. 26 TO DEC. 28

PIP_A Christmas Carol(CINCINNATI) — Three holiday spirits — Christmas Past, Present and Future — conspire to redeem a miserly humbug at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park as U.S. Bank presents Charles Dickens’ iconic holiday story, A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The beloved tale, enjoyed each season by multiple generations of Cincinnatians, will be performed for its 24th year in the Playhouse’s Robert S. Marx Theatre from Nov. 26 through Dec. 28.

Dickens, considered to be one of the greatest writers of all time, wrote the instantly successful A CHRISTMAS CAROL in 1843. His most popular work among a prolific output of classics, A CHRISTMAS CAROL is credited for revitalizing the celebration of Christmas as we know it today. So renowned is the story in popular culture that the central character’s name has become a synonym for a mean, tight-fisted person. A CHRISTMAS CAROL has also inspired countless television, film and stage adaptations — in male, female and even cartoon forms.

The Playhouse’s version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, adapted by Howard Dallin, brings Dickens’ narrative to vivid life with spectacular effects that illuminate Ebenezer Scrooge’s time-traveling journey with the spirits one magical Christmas Eve. From his kind-hearted sister Fan and first love Belle to his generous employer Fezziwig and humble clerk Bob Cratchit, Scrooge is repeatedly shown the saving grace of love and concern for humanity. The heartwarming message of A CHRISTMAS CAROL helps to make it one of the Playhouse’s most popular productions each season and a perfect way to introduce children to the joys of theatre.

The cast of the 2014 production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL features both new and returning actors. Bruce Cromer portrays Ebenezer Scrooge for the 10th time, adding to his tenure as the longest-running reformed humbug in Playhouse history. (Cromer previously portrayed long-suffering clerk Bob Cratchit for eight seasons.) Also returning are Craig Wesley Divino as Fred, Joy Farmer-Clary as Belle/Catherine Margaret, Ryan Wesley Gilreath as Bob Cratchit/Schoolmaster Oxlip, Dale Hodges as the Ghost of Christmas Past/Mrs. Peake, Kelly Mengelkoch as Mrs. Cratchit/Laundress, Gregory Procaccino as Jacob Marley/Old Joe, Nick Rose as Mr. Cupp/Percy/Guest at Fezziwig’s and Stephen Skiles as Mr. Sosser/Topper/Man with Shoe Shine/Guest at Fezziwig’s. Jared Joplin, who portrayed Young and Mature Scrooge/Ghost of Christmas Past in the 2004 production (opposite his father, Joneal Joplin, as Ebenezer Scrooge), returns to the role this season. New to A CHRISTMAS CAROL this season are popular Cincinnati actor Annie Fitzpatrick (most recently seen on the Marx Theatre stage as Lady Lucas/Mrs. Gardiner in Pride and Prejudice) as Mrs. Fezziwig/Patience and Douglas Rees (who appeared as Dr. John H. Watson in Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Suicide Club) as Mr. Fezziwig/Ghost of Christmas Present.

Members of the Playhouse’s Bruce E. Coyle Acting Intern Company — Ollie Corchado, Jay Hobson, Alex Purcell, Christopher Michael Richardson, Laurie Roberts, Claire Simba, Kelsey Torstveit and D’Amante M. Wilson — will play carolers, party guests and others.

Nine Tristate children also appear in A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Returning are Tad Ehlers as Peter Cratchit/Gregory/Apprentice at Fezziwig’s, Joseph Forest Lennon Hamzy as Ignorance/Matthew/Rich Son at Fezziwig’s, Ty Joseph Shelton as Tiny Tim and Ethan Verderber as Boy Scrooge/Guest at Fezziwig’s/Bootblack. New to the production this year are Nathan E. Goodlett as George/Charles/Apprentice at Fezziwig’s, Delaney Ragusa as Martha Cratchit/Guest at Fezziwig’s, Jordan Shaw as Want/Guest at Fezziwig’s, Kinley Brooke Shoemaker as Fan/Guest at Fezziwig’s and Livvy Stubenrauch as Belinda Cratchit/Guest at Fezziwig’s.

“It is a recurring joy to bring Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL to life every holiday season. To see the rapt expressions of thousands of children with their families as they are introduced to the wonders of live theatre at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park is a yearly gift,” says Michael Evan Haney, who is directing the production for the 22nd time. (Haney has been associated with A CHRISTMAS CAROL since its first year; he played the first Bob Cratchit for two seasons.)

The creative team for A CHRISTMAS CAROL includes James Leonard Joy (set designer), David Murin (costume designer), Kirk Bookman (lighting designer), David B. Smith (sound designer/composer), Steve O’Shea (lighting contractor), Cindy Witherspoon (costume coordinator), Rebecca N. Childs (music director) and Dee Anne Bryll (choreographer). The stage manager is Andrea L. Shell, and second stage managers are Becky Merold and Jenifer Morrow.

The production is sponsored by U.S. Bank. The design sponsor is Time Warner Cable Business Class. Artist sponsor/Ebenezer Scrooge is AAA and Provident Travel. Additional support is provided by The Stona Fitch Family.

All show times for A CHRISTMAS CAROL are at 2 p.m. for matinees and 7 p.m. for evening performances to accommodate families with children. Please note the earlier curtain time. There will be no performances on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and selected weekdays in early December. There is an added performance on Monday, Dec. 22.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL is suitable for all general audiences, including children ages 5 and older. Due to the full-length nature of the show, children younger than 5 cannot be admitted.

Tickets for A CHRISTMAS CAROL start at $35. Prices are subject to change, and patrons are encouraged to buy early for the best seats at the best prices. Tickets for children, teenagers and students are $30 and $45. The official opening night is at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28.

Double the Antics! Double the Hijinks! Double the Twins! CSC Presents THE COMEDY OF ERRORS

Double the antics! Double the hijinks! Double the twins!
Cincinnati Shakespeare’s presents THE COMEDY OF ERRORS

CINCINNATI, October 29, 2014— Cincinnati Shakespeare Company continues with this season’s opening Shakespeare production of THE COMEDY OF ERRORS playing November 21- December 13, 2014.  For this production, Cincinnati Shakespeare is thrilled to welcome the Executive Director of the Shakespeare Theatre Association, Patrick Flick, to the director’s chair for the first time at CSC!  The production features Cincinnati Shakespeare’s Resident Ensemble members including Jeremy Dubin, Paul Riopelle, Justin McCombs and Josh Katawick.  The design is generously sponsored by Towne Properties.

THE COMEDY OF ERRORS is Shakespeare’s earliest and wackiest comedy and features not one, but TWO sets of identical twins, leading to twice the confusion, and twice the fun. Twin masters Antipholus and Antipholus (Justin McCombs and Josh Katawik) and their twin servants Dromio and Dromio (Jeremy Dubin and Paul Riopelle), separated at birth and each unknown to the other, just happen to end up in the same town on the same day. What ensues is an increasingly unlikely string of misunderstandings and mistaken identities as the twins unintentionally wreak havoc on each other’s lives. Audiences will be doubled over with laughter at Shakespeare’s THE COMEDY OF ERRORS

The setting of Cincinnati Shakespeare’s production will be a stylish vintage carnival in a mythical seaside resort of “Ephesus” in America in the early 1930’s.  The director, Patrick Flick says that “boater hats, bathing beauties and parasols share the stage with an assortment of carnival oddities.  The play has a ‘storm that blows into town on a pleasant day’ sort of feeling so the ideas of magic, enchantment, wizardry and mistaken identities abound.”  The design team, consisting of scenic and lighting designed by Andrew J. Hungerford and costumes designed by Noelle Wedig, will feature all the treatments of a classic carnival atmosphere from the beautiful to the grotesque.  The stage will be populated by all the classic carnies; a gypsy fortuneteller, a half man/half women, the bearded lady, the strong man, carnival clowns, sword swallowers and more!

Patrick Flick is celebrating his directorial debut as Cincinnati Shakespeare Company by helming THE COMEDY OF ERRORS.  Mr. Flick, a four-time Emmy winner (ZDTV), is the Executive Director of The Shakespeare Theatre Association, the former Literary Chair of the National New Play Network, and former Associate Artistic Director of Orlando Shakespeare.  He has directed “The Exit Interview”, “Red”, “The Comedy of Errors”, “Into the Woods”, “Twelfth Night”, “A Little Night Music”, “Private Lives”, “Kiss Me Kate” and many others.  He also produced a staged workshop of an adaptation of “The Tempest”, starring Oscar winning actress Olympia Dukakis in Orlando.

The Shakespeare Theatre Association (STA) was established to provide a forum for the artistic, managerial, educational leadership for theaters primarily involved with the production of the works of William Shakespeare; to discuss issues and methods of work, resources, and information; and to act as an advocate for Shakespearean productions and training.  Cincinnati Shakespeare is a member of this international organization and has traveled to Canada, California and beyond for the annual conference.  More information on STA can be found only at http://www.stahome.org/.

Performances of THE COMEDY OF ERRORS are scheduled from November 21- December 13, 2014 on Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm with an additional Saturday matinees on Nov. 29 and Dec. 13.  Preview performances are on Wednesday Nov. 19 and Thursday Nov. 20 at 7:30pm and tickets are $21.  No performance on Thursday Nov. 27.  The theater is located at 719 Race Street, downtown Cincinnati, two blocks west of the Aronoff Center.  Single ticket prices range from $22-$32 on Thursdays and Sundays and from $26-$36 on Fridays and Saturdays.  This show is a part of the 2014-2015 subscription season.  If available, $14 student rush tickets may be purchased 30 minutes before a show with a valid student ID.  Visa, Discover, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted.  Ticketing fees may apply.  Discounts are available for students, seniors and groups as well as AAA members.  To purchase tickets or for more information, call the CSC Box Office at 513.381.BARD (2273) ext. 1, or go online at www.cincyshakes.com.
