Behind Behind the Curtain

MISC_RobHello there and thanks for checking out my little corner of the inter-web.

Local arts coverage has been dwindling over the past five years, and as many of you know, The Enquirer laid off their theater reporter about a month ago. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been looking at traffic patterns on both this blog and it’s accompanying Facebook fan page, trying to figure out what I can do to improve my coverage.

One thing I realized is that my voice has been missing from this blog. Last season I was simply working too much, always feeling the pressure of the blog postings being behind, and never quite seeming to have the time to write reviews or other articles. This season I’m working to change that, so expect the blog to be updated more regularly with more reviews and other stories.

I do need your help in promoting local theater and that is by you liking, commenting and sharing posts on Facebook and Twitter. A few shares can literally double or triple the reach of the information and expands your potential audience.

I’m looking forward to an exciting 2013-2014 theater season. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your Labor Day.

See you at the theater.

Rob

The 2013 Cincinnati Fringe is, again, one for the record books. The 2013 Festival had the highest attendance to date. Attendance was up 14% over last year. Tickets sales were up 1,000 over last year. This year’s Fringe had 32 sellout performances (that’s 20% of the shows). Selling out Saturday were PETUNIA AND CHICKEN, DIRK DARROW: NCSSI, THE ELEPHANT IN MY CLOSET, TELEPHONE: A PREQUEL TO A LOVE STORY, LOON, LOLITA: A THREE PERSON SHOW, THE WAVE and THE KILLING GAME.

Congratulations to everyone involved for a great job.

Here is the list of League of Cincinnati Theatres Awards announced last night. (Any errors or omissions are mine.)

Much love to my Fringe-ing friends. Thanks for a great 12 days. See you in 2014 for year 11!
