Resident Stage Manager Sought by The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati

Position Overview:
The Resident Stage Manager will assist the organization in fulfilling its mission of educating, entertaining and engaging audiences of all ages through professional theatrical productions and arts education programming.  The Resident Stage Manager coordinates rehearsal and performance needs for TCT.

This position will report directly to the Production Director, and will work in tandem with The Technical Director, the Associate Artistic Director/Company Manager, and contracted creative teams, which make up the key members of the Production Department.

Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:

TCT MainStage 

  • Stage Managing productions for TCT
  • Assist in managing schedules for technical departments and casts with Producing Director
  • Attending all production meetings, rehearsals, and performances
  • Assist in scheduling of rehearsals and performances with stage director and creative team members
  • Assist in paperwork generally associated with Stage Management including crew running paperwork, character costume breakdowns, and prompt book creation.
  • Assist in performer choreography and blocking record-keeping
  • Assist with coordination of MainStage season auditions
  • Recruit and manage Assistant Stage Managers and Stage Management Interns with the help of the Production Director
  • Along with Production and Artistic teams, manage schedules for technical department and casts
  • General Stage Management duties required for the production, including set up of the rehearsal room, taping out the rehearsal room, prop tables, and creating, maintaining, and distributing all paperwork including a prompt book containing blocking and production cues. 

Education and Outreach

  • When available, acts as the Stage Manager for the final performances of TCT Academy and STAR performances.

Casting

  • Assist the Associate Artistic Director to coordinate and attend auditions and callbacks, assisting with paperwork where necessary.

Technical Theatre Coordination

  • Along with the Production Director, create and manage technical schedules and IATSE crew needs.
  • Oversee unloading scenery, prop, and wardrobe trucks after load-out from the theater as available.
  • Along with the Production Director, supervise strike of all TCT performances.

 Ideal and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts or related field, or equivalent work experience in Theatre Production/Stage Management
  • Ability to work and maintain schedules for technical departments and performers
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read written music
  • Broad understanding of all aspects of technical theatre
  • Experience working with Labor Union Crews, and Volunteers[RJ1] [RJ2] [RJ3]
  • Ability to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual Salary:  $40,000
  • Health, vision, and dental benefits available, partially subsidized by employer contributions, after a waiting period

for The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, The Warsaw Federal Incline Theater, and The Madcap Education Center

Part-Time House Staff Position
Job Requirements:
Must be a self-starter, dependable, and have excellent communication and customer service skills. Must be able to work in an unsupervised environment at The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, The Warsaw Federal Incline Theatre and The Madcap Education Center.

Must be at least 21 years of age, have high school diploma or equivalency, some college preferred. Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Job Description:
House management duties, Will Call, general customer service, work as parking assistant, concessions/bar and run a follow spot, show prep including cleaning and restocking restrooms, lobby, etc.

Hours for position vary. Mostly evenings during performances. Sunday performances are at 2pm. Must be available weekends too.

Director Submissions Being Accepted by Loveland Stage Company

LSC_logoLoveland Stage Company Play Submittals Step One: The director will submit in writing, a short (50 words or less), summary of the action of the play or musical. Following the summary, the director will describe his or her background in the theater and explain their unique qualifications for directing their play. Proposals for the coming season* must be submitted in writing to the board by October 31 to be assured consideration for that season.
* The season is June 1, 2022 through the following May 31, 2023

Step Two: If the director’s proposal is approved the director will complete a detailed production plan and submit the plan to the board, in person, for their approval. An example of a production plan follows.

Sample Production Plan: The director will submit in writing the following: The board will consider the plan and suggest possible revisions to the proposal.

  1. List all characters in the play or musical and give a brief description of their age and type.
  2. What is your overall concept of the play?
  3. Describe your vision of the set and costumes.
  4. How much rehearsal time will you need for this play?
  5. Will you need extra production assistants, e.g. assistant director, assistant music director, vocal coach?
  6. Do you have a proposed budget for the production?
  7. Are there any exception costs associated with this production? (orchestra or musicians, etc.)
  8. Do you have scheduling concerns regarding your availability?

In other words, when would you be available to direct this production? The board will consider the plan and suggest possible revisions to the plan.

Step Three: Revisions may be made to the plan and the board makes a final determination regarding the play/musical. At the discretion of the board, exceptions to this procedure could be made for a director who has directed with the Loveland Stage Company in the past and whose dependability is certain. The board may also request additional information from the director.

Loveland Stage Company Guidelines for Selecting Directors:
These guidelines are intended as suggestions for directors who wish to direct at the Loveland Stage Company. We may consider other factors that the board deems necessary in determining the choice of either directors or shows for the coming season.

  1. Potential directors must be members of the Loveland Stage Company for at least one year prior to submitting a play for consideration.
  2. Potential directors must have participated in at least two major shows at the Loveland Stage Company.

Actor Needed for Role of LUCAS in LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR at Sunset Players

SSP_logoSunset Players has a great cast for Neil Simons LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, But we still need one actor to play Lucas which is the young Neil Simon part.

We need someone who appears in his 20’s.
We start rehearsals next week and we go up at the end of October.

Costumers Sought for Three Shows at the Covedale Center

CCPACincinnati Landmark Productions is seeking costumers for three shows in the Covedale Marquee Season,2021-2022.

These are contracted positions hired for the following productions:

  • ALL SHOOK UP (October 21 – November 14, 2021)
  • ELF the Musical (December 2 – December 26, 2021)
  • ON THE TOWN (March 17 – April 10, 2022)

Costumers may be contracted for multiple shows in this season.

Job brief:
Cincinnati Landmark Productions is looking for a creative Costumer to coordinate, create and manage clothing and costume props for several productions. Your work will play a great part in setting the tone of a story and enhancing the actor’s performance.

As costumer, you must be creative and well-versed in different garment types and styles. You should be able to sketch and see creating clothes as an art. Collaborating closely with a multi-disciplinary team to create the best visual effect.

Responsibilities:

  • Study script to understand costume requirements in terms of setting, era and character attributes.
  • Perform research on historical periods and different regions.
  • Develop costume plots for characters.
  • Create preliminary sketches of costumes and present them for approval
  • Create, acquire, pull from stock or purchase costumes to fulfill show needs
  • Ensure costumes stay within budget
  • Supervise fittings and costume rehearsals
  • Return, store, arrange for cleaning or dispose of used costumes as needed.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as costume designer/coordinator
  • Knowledge of design, sewing, costume creation, resources and textiles
  • Understanding of a range of styles and cultural/historical elements
  • Aptitude in research
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Ability to work independently, yet as part of a production team.
  • Creativity and attention to detail
  • Well-organized and reliable
  • Degree or commensurate experience in costume design or relevant field
