Cincinnati Shakespeare Company Seeks Ensemble Members and Technical Interns

AUDITION POSTING
The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company is at an exciting juncture. Our organization is expanding, and we are on the hunt for committed performers to come and join the CSC ensemble. In addition to our mainstage season, it is our hope to create an independent touring company dedicated to bringing Shakespeare to schools, art centers and other venues both in and outside of the greater Cincinnati area. Please specify in your cover letter if you would like to be considered only for mainstage guest spots, or if you would like to be considered for a season-long touring company contract. INTERNSHIP POSTING:
Spring Technical Internships with the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company

We are looking for college students to fill unpaid technical internships in exchange for credit hours. Experience in carpentry, electrics, props or scenic painting required, but combination of skill sets preferred. Participants would be working 10-15 hours spread over 3 days a week. Frisch Marionette Company Seeks Park-Time Season Puppeteer

Employment begins January 2012.

Requirements: Candidates must be at least 20 years of age, have some college education in theatre arts, a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. No experience with marionettes necessary; we will train the right candidate. However, you must be energetic, have good hand/eye coordination and a sense of showmanship. Preferred candidate may have some previous experience working with children in the performing arts.

Candidate must be able to work in an unsupervised environment; must be a self starter, dependable, and have excellent communication and customer service skills; must be able to lift 50 lbs; must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule.

The successful candidate will have the skills and purpose to grow with the Frisch Marionette Company and could include year-round opportunities.

About Frisch Marionette Company:
Kevin Frisch moved from Cincinnati to New York City and joined Nicolas Coppola’s The Puppetworks, Inc., of Brooklyn, NY in 1986. Working with many puppeteers, Kevin developed his own art, craft and skills as a puppeteer and artist. Kevin spent the next nine years touring the New York Metropolitan area as well as performing in The Puppetworks’ permanent theatres in Brooklyn and Macy’s Herald Square.

In 1995, he established The Frisch Marionettes as an exceptional entertainment and educational experience for children and adults alike, proclaiming the many virtues of this unusual art form.

Frisch Marionettes have built puppets, masks and costumes for The Central Park Zoo, New York Aquarium and The Puppetworks Inc. They’ve been seen in People Magazine, SHOWTIME’S “Twisted Puppet Theater,” the PBS Documentary “The American Puppet” and onstage with The Cincinnati Opera as well as in the New York store windows of Saks 5th Avenue, Bloomingdales’ and Hermes New York. Cincinnati Landmark Productions (CLP), a non-profit professional theater company, seeks a full-time Marketing and Development manager.

CLP is the production and management company for the Showboat Majestic; The owners and operators of the Covedale Center for the Performing Arts; and Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre teen summer program. CLP also produces events, concerts, children’s programs and an art fair at its two landmark theatres

The Marketing and Development manager will coordinate a broad spectrum of business and fundraising initiatives for the company, including:

  • Sponsorships, Cooperative Marketing, Branding, Advertising
  • Demographics, Statistics, Impact Metrics, Database Management
  • Individual Donors, Foundation proposals, Stewardship, Reports
  • Fundraising Events, Annual Fund, Special Projects, Research
  • Creating, coordinating annual Marketing/Development plan
  • Public Relations, Social Media, Audience research, Print Projects

This position is part of Cincinnati Landmark Production’s management team and works closely with the Executive Director and Business Manager. Ability to collaborate, create consensus yet work independently with initiative is a must.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, business planning and marketing initiatives
  • Strong commitment to the performing arts
  • Strong commitment to community development
  • Strong communication and management skills
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Access and Excel, PowerPoint
  • Public Speaking, presentations, business writing, grant writing
  • Knowledge of Cincinnati performing arts community
  • Event, theatrical production management

Background:
Bachelor degree in arts management, marketing or equivalent experience in a marketing or development role, for a minimum of 2 years.

“Singing with the Broadway Stars” Video Audition Deadline:
Sun., Oct. 2 at 5 PM (EST)

CINCINNATI, OH – Five Broadway stars are giving away the chance to join them on stage in Neil Berg’s 101 Years of Broadway, the acclaimed musical revue that returns to the Aronoff Center for one night only on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 8:00 PM as part of the Cincinnati Arts Association’s 2011-12 Season. Submission guidelines are posted at www.SingingWithTheBroadwayStars.com.

Neil Berg’s 101 Years of Broadway concert at the Aronoff Center will feature the following Broadway stars: Ron Bohmer (The Phantom of the Opera, The Scarlet Pimpernel), Carter Calvert (It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues), Sandra Joseph (Christine, The Phantom of the Opera), Chuck Wagner (Jekyll & Hyde, Les Misèrables), and Danny Zolli (Jesus, Jesus Christ Superstar).

Up to two winner(s) and up to (10) runner(s)-up will be selected by the show’s panel of industry experts (including producers, singers, and managers, as well as Neil Berg himself).

To audition, entrants should upload a 90 to 120 second video clip of themselves singing a Broadway favorite to YouTube, MySpace, or Facebook, and then submit their audition using the online form at www.SingingWithTheBroadwayStars.com by Sunday, October 2 at 5:00 PM (EST). The panel will judge the audition tapes to decide the lucky winners who will get the chance to show off their singing skills in front of their family and friends with five Broadway stars and an all-star New York band. The winner(s) and runner(s)-up will also receive a pair of complimentary tickets (and the chance to purchase discount tickets) for their family and friends to see their “Broadway debut” on stage at the Aronoff Center!

The panel will announce the winner(s) and runner(s)-up on Thursday, October 6. Winners will receive notification by email or phone.

All audition video submitters will be entitled to a discount on any price-level ticket to Neil Berg’s 101Years of Broadway at the Aronoff Center on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 8:00 PM.

AUDITION SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND RULES:

  1. This is an audition, not a contest or sweepstakes.
  2.  The video audition must be 90-120 seconds long and posted to a MySpace, Facebook, or YouTube page. The audition must be submitted using the application form at www.SingingWithTheBroadwayStars.com no later than Sunday, October 12, 2011, 5:00 PM (EST)
  3. Entrants must be at least 13 years of age to submit their video.
  4. Winner(s) and runner(s)-up under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent.
  5. No purchase is necessary. Winner(s) and runner(s)-up will each receive a pair of complimentary tickets to the show.
  6. Winner(s) and runner(s)-up must arrive at the Aronoff Center by 5:00 PM the day of the show (Wednesday, October 12), appropriately dressed, and stay for the whole production. The producers of the show reserve the right to exclude anyone who does not meet these criteria.
  7. The runner(s)-up will perform as part of the ensemble in one song during the show.
  8. The winner(s) will sing a short solo in at least one song in the show.
  9. All video audition entrants will be entitled to a discount on tickets (some restrictions may apply) to the performance of Neil Berg’s 101 Years of Broadway at the Aronoff Center on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, 8:00 PM
  10. Winner(s) and runner(s)-up may be asked to do interviews for local media.
  11. All submitted videos will become the property of Left Field Productions and may be used in any appropriate manner to promote the “Singing with the Broadway Stars” platform. No submissions will be sold.
