Auditions Announced for COMPANY at Wilmington College

WC_logoWilmington College-Community Summer Theatre announces auditions for its summer production of Stephen Sondheim’s Company the Musical.

Auditions will be Tuesday and Wednesday May 28th and 29th at 7:15pm with callbacks, if necessary, on Thursday, May 30th, 7:15 p.m. in the Heiland Theatre, Boyd Cultural Arts Center, Wilmington College.

Company will be directed by Wynn Alexander, with music direction by Matt Spradlin and choreography by Cole Haugh. Production dates are July 18, 19, 20 and 21.

Auditions are open to anyone age 18 and above and will be held in workshop style with music, choreography and cold readings taught during the sessions.
All are encouraged to attend as many of the sessions as possible.

For audition or production information contact Wynn Alexander, 937-481-2472 or wynn_alexander@wilmington.edu

Company, with music by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth, takes place on the night of Bobby’s all-important “30-something” birthday.

Bobby, a long confirmed single, contemplates what it means to be alone. Over the course of a series of remembered dinners, drinks and even a wedding, friends explain the pros and cons of taking on a spouse; Bobby is forced to question “the tick-tock” of what it means to be unmarried.

Sondheim’s Company is largely regarded as a trailblazer of the dark-comedy, modern-musical genre, and features a brilliantly brisk and energetic score containing many of the composer’s best-known songs.
