Auditions Announced for THE SUNSHINE BOYS at Fairfield Footlighters

fflFairfield Footlighters announces the auditions for THE SUNSHINE BOYS written by Neil Simon and directed by Richard Zenk. This classic comedy concerns two retired vaudeville performers, Al Lewis and Willie Clark (aka ‘The Sunshine Boys’), who reunite to perform their famous sketch ‘The Doctor Will See You Now’ on a network TV special.

The auditions will follow these guidelines: Everyone entering the FCAC Theater at 411 Wessel Dr, Fairfield, OH 45014 must wear a face mask. Auditionees can remove their mask once onstage for their audition but must wear when in close proximity to other people. Auditionees should stay outside until they called in via text or voice call. Everyone must social distance.

Once you sign up for an audition slot, you will be emailed an audition form to complete and the audition sides. You will return the audition form along with your theater resume and headshot by July 18th.

Contact the director with any questions via the Sign-Up Genius link. The rehearsals will begin on August 8. The performances will occur on September 18–20, 2020.

CHARACTERS:

  • Willie Clark (60+ – lead) – One half of the famous vaudeville duo known as the Sunshine Boys, Willie is a cranky, fiercely independent man, not as young as he used to be, and nostalgically protective of the glory days of his glamorous past.
  • Ben Silverman (20-35 – supporting) – Willie’s nephew and only living relative, an agent, frequently driven to heart palpitations by his frustration with his uncle, whom he looks after.
  • Al Lewis ( 60+ – lead) – The former vaudeville partner of Willie, who abruptly decided to retire after 43 years of performing. Now elderly, he lives with his daughter and her young family.
  • Patient (any age – cameo) – A member of the doctor sketch, one of the Sunshine Boys’ most famous acts.
  • Eddie (20-30; cameo) – The young and efficient assistant TV director at CBS.
  • Nurse (20-35; cameo) – A young attractive woman, playing a burlesque nurse in the Sunshine Boys’ doctor sketch.
  • Registered Nurse (any age – cameo) – A sensible, brusque healthcare practitioner hired to look after Willie.

Video Auditions Announced for Engagement Programs at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

Off the Grid and Outreach Tour

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park is accepting video audition submissions from non-Equity actors for performance opportunities through our Off the Grid and Outreach Tour programs. These opportunities include virtual and site-specific, interactive theatrical experiences, and our fall school outreach tour production of The Wind in the Willows, which will be recorded and presented virtually.

These auditions are for non-Equity performers in the Greater Cincinnati area. Please, no calls or materials through mail.

Deadline to Submit Audition:
July 21, 2020

General Audition Material:
Please prepare two contrasting, contemporary monologues. The audition should be no longer than three minutes total. Videos, headshots and resumes should be submitted through this form.

Audition Process:
To be considered for any upcoming projects in our Off the Grid and Outreach Tour programs, actors must submit a video audition by July 21, 2020. Actors will be invited to Zoom call-backs on a show-by-show basis.

Outreach Tour Compensation:
Actors for The Wind in the Willows will be paid $500 per week for two weeks. Rehearsals will occur Sept. 8 – 18, filming on Sept. 19. Fittings are required on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.

Off the Grid Compensation:
Actors for interactive, virtual and immersive performances will be paid an hourly rate which will be provided when called back for shows.

Health and Safety:
The Playhouse health and safety plans are in accordance with guidelines outlined by the CDC and the State of Ohio.

Video Auditions Announced for IT’S ALIVE-ISH at Village Players

VP_new logoVillage Players of Fort Thomas announces video auditions for its first-ever video production, “IT’S ALIVE-ISH: 7 new plays about weird stuff.” Here’s how:

  • Submit a video performing the monologue below to the director, Nathan Henegar, BEFORE midnight, July 9 (no later than 11:59 pm on July 9).
  • Alternative monologues not accepted.
  • Email the video as an attachment or provide a link to nathan.henegar@gmail.com.
  • Roles available for adults of all ages, genders, and ethnicities. (Sorry, no roles for children or teens.) Note: We are specifically seeking at least two African American/Actors of Color.
  • This will be a fully staged production, filmed on Aug. 22 and released for viewing on Aug. 29.
  • Rehearsals and filming will include all appropriate coronavirus protocols — distancing, masking as possible, limited number of people in the theater, self assessment.
  • Rehearsals will be minimal and will begin after casting, schedule TBA.

You always gotta let the last man go. It’s honorable. He’s the last guy to make it out of the bag. The warrior. He’s the last samurai man.

You have to give it some thought and wonder, how did this little M&M do it? How was he skilled enough to be the last M&M  in the bag, out of all the other M&M’s in the bag? All the different colors. All the different sizes. I always let the last one go because he was the strongest, the swiftest, the smartest peanut out of the bunch. If you respect the candy, you gotta respect the nut.

Some people will call it science. Others will call it luck. I like to call it destiny. it was destiny combined with talent that made this little fella survive. Picture it. All of these other peanuts, some bigger than you, some faster than you, some smarter than you…all fighting to stay in the back of the bag when you turn it upside down to eat one of them. This little fella beat the odds. He deserves to be set free, just on moral obligation alone. Call me crazy but no matter what you say, I’m always going to let the last man go.

Video Auditions Announced for A DOLL’S HOUSE, PART TWO at Equality Productions

EP_logoEQUALITY PRODUCTIONS announces the auditions for its virtual production of DOLL’S HOUSE, PART TWO by Lucas Hnath. Fifteen years ago, Nora left her husband, Torvald. Nora has since become a successful feminist writer, while Torvald continued to work at the bank and raised their children. But after all that’s happened, will Torvald be willing to give her what she wants? After all this time, is Nora prepared to face what she left behind?

Roles:

  • NORA: A writer and ex-mother. Intelligent and independent, she takes great pride in her success and autonomy.  (Stage Age 40-50)
  • TORVALD: Nora’s estranged husband. On the surface, he is measured and reserved. He feels quite deeply, but is unsure of how to express it. (Stage Age 50-60)
  • ANNE MARIE: The housekeeper and nanny of the Helmer household. Bighearted, candid, and quick to make every sacrifice for those around her. (Stage Age 60-75)
  • EMMY: Nora and Torvald’s daughter. Young, but not to be underestimated. Cunning and wise, self-aware, and in some ways, a traditional romantic. (Stage Age early 20s)

Equality Productions encourages submissions from artists with a broad range of backgrounds, including all races, ethnicities, abilities, sexual identities, ages, and gender/gender identities.

Non-union. This production will be done as a fundraiser and therefore these roles will not be paid. All rehearsals will take place online in a Zoom format. The show will be recorded and released in late August.

Cast members’ minimum technical requirements include:

  1. A computer, smartphone, or tablet with a working microphone and camera that can be used without a headset

  2. A stable high-speed internet connection (https://www.speedtest.net/) and the ability to connect your device directly via ethernet cable, and

  3. A quiet space with good/controllable lighting to rehearse and record.

Auditions will be held online the week of July 6-10th afternoons and evenings. Times are listed  in PST.   2.  Theatre resume (file name should be first_last_resume – e.g. Mary Jones Resume)

  3. Preferred Role(s) you’d like to read for; if more than one list them in order of preference, and,

  4. Conflicts – Rehearsal dates and times you can NOT attend from July 12th to August 30th (weekday evenings from 4-7pm PST/7-10pm EST, Saturdays from 11am – 4 pm PST/2-7pm EST).

Rehearsals will take place 2 to 3 times per week from mid-July to mid/late August on weekday nights and some weekends, based on actor availability. Actors will be responsible for their costumes, hair, props, and makeup. The director will assist if needed.
