Meet Our Directors

Richard Zenk (Beloved Melodies) is new to CMT but has directed several shows for CenterStage Players, Beechmont Players, and The Drama Workshop among others. Tribes, which he directed for CenterStage Players in 2018, was excerpted at the Southwest Regional ACT Conference, and was chosen to represent our area at the state OCTA conference.

Skip Fenker (Bandstand) has directed more than 15 shows for CMT over the past 20 years, winning Orchids and CEA awards for many including Chicago, The Drowsy Chaperone, Peter Pan, Sunset Boulevard, Hairspray and most recently both The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Cabaret.

Brian Anderson (Music at the Movies) brought his Broadway credits as a performer to CMT’s Evita, and his directorial and choreographing skills to CMT’s 42nd Street. He has choreographed and performed in several other CMT shows over the past 20 years.

Chad Brinkman (Kiss Me, Kate) is a new director to CMT but he has designed lights for two of our Studio Series, Musical of Musicals and Home. An experienced director, set designer, and lighting designer, Chad brings a welcome talent to CMT.

Jerry Wiesenhahn (The World Goes ‘Round) is a seasoned director and choreographer in the Cincinnati community theater family. Former credits for CMT include directing Young Frankenstein, and performing as Colonel Pickering in My Fair Lady, the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz, as well as numerous other shows over the past 22 years with CMT.

A special thank you to the creative committee, led by Vice President of Creative, Kendra Struthers, for their efforts in creating what is sure to be an exciting season!

Of Mice and Men to Open at Footlighters, Inc. February 13, 2020

FLI_Of Mice and Men logoFootlighters, Inc. proudly presents the third show of its 2019-2020 season, the classic Of Mice and Men.

John Steinbeck’s classic tale features two migrant workers, drifter George and his mentally challenged friend Lennie, arriving at a ranch to work for enough money to pursue their dream of owning their own farm. Lennie is a man-child, a little boy in the body of a dangerously powerful man. It’s Lennie’s obsession with things soft and cuddly that have made George cautious about who the gentle giant, with his brute strength, associates with. But when the unexpected happens, their dreams take a drastic and tragic turn.

Of Mice and Men features the return of award-winning veteran actor Bill Hartnett to the Footlighters stage. Bill was last seen onstage at the Stained Glass Theatre in 2013’s Tuesdays with Morrie, but Bill’s career spans over 40 years in the Cincinnati area. Together with his late wife Ellie Shepherd, he has won over 60 Association of Community Theatre/Ohio Community Theatre Association awards, and in 2008, they were both inducted into the CEA Theater Hall of Fame.

Performances:

  • Thursday-Saturday, February 13-15 at 7:30pm
  • Sunday, February 16 at 2:00pm
  • Thursday-Saturday, February 20-22 at 7:30pm
  • Sunday, February 23 at 2:00pm
  • Wednesday- Saturday, February 26-29 7:30pm

Tickets: $22 each and are available at (859) 652-3849 or FootlightersTickets@gmail.com.

The Footlighters, Inc. has been producing quality community theater shows in the Greater Cincinnati area for over 55 years. The group was established in 1963 by a small group of community theater volunteers who wanted to bring theater opportunities to the west side of Cincinnati.

In 1987, the group bought the Salem United Methodist Church in Newport and transformed it into The Stained Glass Theatre. The theater is on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated a Kentucky landmark. In September of 2018, Footlighters added an ADA ramp to the front of their building to complement the elevator installed in September of 2017, allowing access for all patrons with limited mobility.
