Tim Allen recently wrapped the 6th season of his hit sitcom “Last Man Standing” on ABC. He can currently be seen performing stand-up to sold-out crowds at venues across the country. Allen can next be seen starring in Netflix’s new dark comedy film “El Camino Christmas” along with Vincent D’Onofrio, Luke Grimes, Dax Shepard, Kimberly Quinn and Jimmy O. The film is expected to be released later this year around Christmas. He will also be reprising his role as Buzz Lightyear in “Toy Story 4” set for release in 2019.

Allen honed his talents as a stand-up comic throughout the eighties, providing the perfect lead-in to his highly successful ABC television series “Home Improvement” where he garnered a Golden Globe Award, an Emmy nomination, and was honored with the People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Male Performer in a Television Series” for an unprecedented eight years in a row.

During “Home Improvement’s” run at the top of the prime-time charts, Tim revisited his comedy roots with a successful national concert tour. He also found time to pen his first book about the male perspective,Don’t Stand Too Close to a Naked Man, topping the New York Times Bestseller List.   This was followed by his second bestseller I’m Not Really Here focusing on midlife, family and quantum physics.

In 1999, during the final season of “Home Improvement,” Tim was honored with the TV Guide Award for Favorite Actor in a Comedy Series. In a tearful farewell, Tim hung up his tool belt, shifting his film career into high gear with resounding success.

He made his film debut in 1994, playing a holiday icon in “The Santa Clause,” earning him another People’s Choice Award.   In 1995, he voiced the beloved, yet deluded, space ranger Buzz Lightyear in the CGI smash hit “Toy Story.”

In 1997, Allen starred in the hit comedies “Jungle 2 Jungle” and “For Richer or Poorer.” To the delight of moviegoers, in 1999 Tim reprised his character Buzz Lightyear in “Toy Story 2” which grossed over $250 million. This was followed by the hit film “Galaxy Quest.”   Representing the ‘Average Joe,’ Tim starred in “Joe Somebody” and in 2001 he starred in the comedy “Big Trouble.”   In 2002, Tim took on the role of Critical Jim in “Who Is Cletis Tout?,” and he helped kick off the holiday season that year reprising his role in  “The Santa Clause 2.”   In 2004, he starred opposite Jamie Lee Curtis in the comedy “Christmas with the Kranks.”

In 2006, Allen starred in “The Santa Clause 3,” in which he once again reprised his role as Santa Claus.  That same year he starred in the comedy “Zoom” and in the updated version of the Disney classic “The Shaggy Dog.” In 2007, he starred opposite John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy in the hit comedy “Wild Hogs.” In 2008 Allen starred in the drama “Redbelt.”

In 2010, Allen reprised his role as Buzz Lightyear in “Toy Story 3.”  That same year he starred in his feature film directorial debut “Crazy On The Outside” with Sigourney Weaver and Ray Liotta.

In 2013, Allen reprised his role as Buzz Lightyear in “Toy Story of Terror,” a spooky tale featuring all of the favorite “Toy Story” characters.

In suburban Massachusetts in the mid-1980’s, thirty-something-year-old Josephine Rosen has a dead-end job and still lives at home with her hypochondriac mother. She started college but never finished, and has settled into a life that doesn’t offer much hope for the future. But when a new friendship at work and a chance flirtation with an old classmate give her hope for the possibility of change, she dusts off the Jane Fonda tapes and begins to take tentative steps towards a new life. This is a play about the tragedy and joy of figuring out who you are and letting go of who you were supposed to be.

Casting Requirements:

  • Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
  • A résumé and headshot are not required but are appreciated.
  • Please provide a list of all known conflicts between March 5 & May 5, 2019

NOTE: This play takes place in a middle-class suburb of Boston. Dialect will be taught, so if cast you can expect to spend time working dialect at rehearsal and when learning lines. This is very important to the play. (You are most welcome to give it a shot at auditions!)

Auditions Announced for PICNIC at Troy Civic Theatre

TROY_logoTo us, Labor Day is the third and last summer holiday; to a small town in Kansas in the early 1950s, Labor Day was the end of summer and the eve of a new school year, and a day for the whole town to celebrate with a picnic. On this day celebrating change, every carefully drawn character has a past with accomplishments and regrets, fears about their future, yet hopes for change in their lives.

Auditions for William Inge’s Pulitzer Prize and New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award winning drama PICNIC will be held at Troy Civic Theatre at 7:00 P.M. on Monday and Tuesday, March 4 and 5, 2019.

Director Jim Lockwood will be looking for actors to fill the following 11 roles:

  • Helen Potts – a widow, and caretaker of her elderly mother, well past her prime, but still flirtatious with younger men.
  • Hal Carter – a vagabond, 20s, good-looking and athletic womanizer, boastful, but insecure; a college friend of Alan, whom he hopes can help him land a job, big dreams, but no plan.
  • Millie Owens – high school student who has already earned a college scholarship, boisterous, assertive, and sassy, but lives in the shadow of her beautiful older sister.
  • Bomber Gutzel – newsboy, older teen, picks on Millie, has eyes for Madge.
  • Madge Owens – 18-year-old former beauty queen who works at dime store, dating a wealthy college student, but searching for escape from small town life, jealous of younger sister’s intelligence and independence.
  • Flo Owens – single mother, 40s -50s, protective of daughters, untrusting of strangers, pressing Madge to marry into money.
  • Rosemary Sydney – school teacher, who rents a room from Flo. She jokingly calls herself an “old maid school teacher”; ultra conservative in art, literature, and behavior until loosened up a bit after a little liquor offered by her boyfriend Howard.
  • Alan Seymour – college student, 20s, smart, polished son of a wealthy executive; dating Madge, but returning to college at the end of summer.
  • Irma Kronkite – school teacher, long-time friend of Rosemary, loud, enjoys her single-life, a jokester when around Rosemary.
  • Christine Schoenwalder – school teacher, 20s to 40s, new to this school, somewhat shy, quiet, looks up to Irma and Rosemary.
  • Howard Bevans – small business owner, 40s to 50s, fond of liquor in a dry state, dating Rosemary, but wary of commitment.

Auditioners will be asked to read excerpts from the script.
A head shot and resumé are desirable, but not required.
Please bring a list of all conflicts between March 4 and May 12 (final performance).

PICNIC will run weekends May 3-12.

If you have questions, contact Jim Lockwood by email at jeckleday@msn.com.
