Casting Call for 3rd Annual Cincinnati One-Minute Play Festival

KTC_One Minute Play Festival logoKaren O’Brien, a professional director, is looking for talent to perform in the Festival at the Know Theatre.  The One-Minute Play Festival (#1MPF) is a grassroots community-engaged theatre festival. #1MPF is social barometer practice, which investigates local zeitgeist and narratives through dialogue, consensus building, and a performance of minute-long moments generated by each community. For more information visit: www.oneminuteplayfestival.com.

There are 6 – 10 new one-minute plays with flexible casting requirements that are diverse in race, age, gender and all frames of representation. There will be about 10-20 hours of rehearsal time in June and early July (times and dates TBD). Rehearsal time depends how many characters you are cast to portray. Alas, there is no pay for these performances.

Given that a roster of actors are needed by June 3rd, the director may make casting decisions based upon actors’ resume, headshot and list of conflicts for evening and weekend rehearsals between June 5th and July 9th rather than have actors audition.

Performances:

  • Saturday July 8th at 9a-8pm for Tech and Performance at 8P (7pm call)
  • Sunday, July 9th at 3pm (2pm call)
  • Sunday, July 9th at 8pm (7pm call)

If interested, email your resume, headshot and a file with a list of conflicts to Richard Zenk, Stage Manager at richardjoseph@gmail.com by June 3rd.

June 10 – 3:00pm

Directed by Nathan Greer

Featuring: Chris Griesinger, Karen Griesinger, Ken Jaffe,  Diane Minnich Weber, Jacob O’Connor, Glenn Schaich & Michael Schlotterbeck

If you have ever attended an Opening Night Party then you know what the energy can be like. Everyone is riding high on all of the work that has been put into the production at hand. But there is one more step to make the experience complete. THE REVIEWS. That insane moment when we all care what somewhat else thinks.

IT’S ONLY A PLAY takes us to opening night of Peter Austin’s new play as he anxiously awaits to see if his show is a hit. With his career on the line, he shares his big First Night with his “best” friend, a television star, his novice producer, his doped-up diva, his genius director, a lethal drama critic, and a fresh-off-the-bus coat check attendant on his first night in Manhattan.

It’s alternately raucous, ridiculous and tender—and proves that sometimes the biggest laughs happen offstage. This play contains some adult language.

THE OFFER
Buy one get on 50% off. So grab a theatre friend or just a friend and come and laugh at this ridiculous cast of characters. Call 513.425.7140 and make your pre-paid reserved seat reservation. Or you can walk – in. Offer is valid as long as seats are available. Must show this AD upon arrival to receive offer.

THE STORY: Wilfred Tasbinder, a romantically minded tramp, finds a birth certificate for Oliver Erwenter, indicating that its owner is 77 years old. Wilfred decides to impersonate Erwenter and enter a home for the aged. Being a fellow of rich imagination, he takes it upon himself to help the inmates by putting on a bazaar and showing each of them that one is only as old as he feels. Case in point, the attractive Miss Tripp, in charge of the home and more or less in love with the stuffy Reverend Watson, enters a romance with Erwenter and discovers the true meaning of passion. All goes well until Erwenter is exposed by his tramp companion, Emmett. He and Emmett, having appropriated the necessary equipment for the bazaar from neighboring institutions, are in danger of arrest, but Erwenter persuades his victims that the bazaar is a worthwhile cause and ends up the object of universal praise. Erwenter again feels the call of the road and leaves the home, having finally taught the Reverend to show Miss Tripp how deeply he loves her. THE SILVER WHISTLE is a sweet and funny comedy guaranteed to please all audiences.
