ABOUT THE SHOW:
Al Lewis and Willy Clark are a pair of feuding vaudeville comedians who performed together for 47 years before finally calling it quits. A network genius then has the brilliant idea of reuniting the duo for a TV special about the history of comedy. Once the reunion is on, the sparks and one-liners start to fly with equal speed. Enjoy this audience favorite where hilarity abounds in this comedy of showbiz and friendship.

Online Auditions Announced for THE SUNSHINE BOYS at Fairfield Footlighters

ffl Fairfield Footlighters announces auditions for THE SUNSHINE BOYS written by Neil Simon and directed by Richard Zenk. This classic comedy concerns two retired vaudeville performers, Al Lewis and Willie Clark (aka ‘The Sunshine Boys’), who reunite to perform their famous sketch ‘The Doctor Will See You Now’ on a network TV special. The two leads, Al and Willie, were cast in 2020.CHARACTERS:

Ben Silverman (20-35 – supporting) – Willie’s nephew and only living relative; an entertainment agent, frequently driven to heart palpitations by his frustration with his uncle, whom he looks after
Patient (any age – cameo) – A member of the doctor sketch, one of the Sunshine Boys’ most famous acts
Eddie (20-35; cameo) – The young and efficient assistant TV director at CBS
Nurse (20-35; cameo) – A young woman, playing a burlesque nurse in the Sunshine Boys’ doctor sketch

Rehearsals in Clifton or Fairfield begin the week of January 16, 2022 to prepare for February 25-27 performances. All cast and crew must be fully vaccinated and show their COVID vaccine card. Cast and crew can wear masks during rehearsals. The cast would not wear their masks during tech week or performances.

You can perform the sides in a Zoom session with the director live or record the sides with another person who is off-camera.

In 1860’s New England, we see the lives of the four March daughters – Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy – play out before us and follow their triumphs and tragedies as they grow up, fall in love, and face life. With their chaplain father away serving in the Civil War and their mother doing all she can to hold things together at home, the girls employ creativity and courage to help their mother while pursuing their own passions—Jo’s writing, Amy’s art, Beth’s service to the poor, and Meg’s pursuit to become a proper young lady. Next-door neighbor Theodore “Laurie” Laurence, a lonely but charming teen, can’t resist the energy and grace of these little women and helps them to endure one trial after another.
