Script Submissions Sought for HISTORY IN ACTION at Caesar’s Ford Theatre

CFT_logoCaesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc is looking for short dramatic scripts based about Ohio history to be included in “History in Action”, a festival of new historic drama, to be presented as staged readings in the summer of 2019. The festival will take place in an outdoor theatre venue.

Original one-act plays, monologues, or scenes from longer works will be considered. Each script should require no more than 10 performers and run somewhere between 10 and 30 minutes in length. All scripts should be based on stories from the history and culture of Ohio. Visit www.caesarsford.com for some suggested subjects and further details. Fictional characters and incidents can be included but historical accuracy is a priority. Scripts should not be based upon previously published works.

Writers should be residents of Ohio, or a graduate of a college or university located in Ohio, or have a significant tie to the state. The authors of scripts chosen for inclusion in the Festival will be offered compensation for performance rights, ranging from $25 to $100, depending on the length of the material. Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc is particularly interested in material that might further be developed into a trilogy of full length plays to be presented in an Ohio outdoor theatre venue in the future. Writers are permitted to submit more than one script.

There is no submission fee. Scripts can be submitted in an attachment to info@caesarsford.com , in Word or PDF format, or they can be sent in hard copy to Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc PO BOX C Xenia, Ohio 45385-0692. Open Meeting Regarding Restoration of Caesar’s Ford Theatre on Aug. 30

CFT_logoCaesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc invites Theatre Practitioners (Playwrights, Directors, Technical Professionals, and Performers) to attend an open meeting regarding the restoration of outdoor historical theatre to southwest Ohio.

The meeting will be Thursday August 30, 2018 at 7:30 PM at the Xenia Area Community Theater 45 E. Second Street Xenia, Ohio 45385.

Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc is conducting a feasibility study with the Institute of Outdoor Theatre / Southeastern Theatre Conference and input from Theatre Practitioners is greatly needed.

As a result of this study, a “Festival of New Historic Drama” play writing festival is planned for late summer 2019. The meeting and discussions will be led by the consulting team from the Institute of Outdoor Theatre / Southeastern Theatre Conference. They include Dr. David Wohl, PhD, Dean Emeritus, College of Visual and Performing Arts, Winthrop University in South Carolina, Peter Hardy, Artistic Director of Essential Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia and former Director of “Unto These Hills” outdoor drama in Cherokee, North Carolina, and Dr. Larry Gustke, PhD Professor Emeritus, Department of Parks and Recreation and Tourism Management, North Carolina State University. Support for Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc historical outdoor theatre project comes from The Dayton Book Fair Foundation, the Ohio Arts Council Capacity Building Grants Program, the Hampden W. and Erma R. Catterton Fund of The Dayton Foundation, and individual supporters.

Actress Needed for THE DIARIES OF ADAM AND EVE at Caesar’s Ford Theatre

CFT_logoURGENT CASTING CALL. Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc is producing a Mark Twain Anthology consisting of three one act plays based on the writing of Mark Twain.

Our actress cast as Eve, in the one act play Mark Twain’s The Diaries of Adam and Eve, had to leave the cast due to a family emergency. We are in need of a replacement.

This is a wonderful role for an actress age 20’s to 30’s to showcase their performing skills. Excellent and experienced director and fellow cast. Please contact Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc immediately at info@caesarsford.com for additional information and to schedule an audition.

Additional Actors Needed for ROBIN HOOD at Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc

CFT_logoCaesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc would like to thank everyone who attended auditions for ROBIN HOOD these past two weeks. Those who auditioned were very experienced and strong actors. Special thanks to the Yellow Springs Arts Council for the use of their very nice facility.

There are some large and small parts yet to cast and we have received special requests from actors to have additional auditions. The cast includes 14 men and 7 women.

Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc will extend auditions by special appointment. Please contact us at info@caesarsford.com to schedule an audition. Rehearsals will begin the first week of July 2016. Performance dates are August 26, 27, and 28, 2016 and September 2, 3, and 4, 2016 at Atherton Outdoor Amphitheatre in Fairborn, Ohio.

Auditions Announced for ROBIN HOOD at Caesar’s Ford Theatre

CFT_logoCaesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc is pleased to announce auditions for the outdoor theatre production of ROBIN HOOD.

Auditions will take place on May 18, 19, 25, and 26, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the Yellow Springs Arts Council 111 Corry Street Yellow Springs, Ohio 45387.

Headshots and resumes are encouraged but not required.

Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script.

Cast includes 14 men and 7 women.

Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc, in collaboration with the City of Fairborn Parks & Recreation Department, will stage the production at the Atherton Outdoor Amphitheatre in Fairborn’s Community Park 691 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd Fairborn, Ohio 45324.

Performance dates will be August 26, 27, and 28, 2016 and September 2, 3, and 4, 2016.

The play will be directed by James J. Cain and technical direction will be provided by Thomas L. Blackbern.

ROBIN HOOD by Larry Blamire is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

Volunteers are also sought to help with set construction, stage crew, and hospitality. Caesar’s Ford Theatre, Inc encourages participation and opportunity for all persons in all areas of theatre production.
