An adaptation by Joseph Robinette with music by Charles Strouse will have you clapping your hands and tapping your toes as it tells the beloved children’s story of a pig named Wilbur and his devoted friend Charlotte, the spider who manages to save his life by writing about him in her web.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST by Oscar Wilde

Two young gentlemen bend the truth in order to put some excitement into their lives. John Worthing has invented a brother, Earnest, whom he uses as an excuse to leave his dull life behind to visit the girl he adores in London. Algernon Montcrieff decides to take the name Earnest to secretly visit Worthing’s young and beautiful ward in the country. Things go awry when they all end up together and their deceptions are discovered. Featuring some of the cleverest and best known dialogue in theater.

Olive Madison and her group of girlfriends are enjoying their weekly Trivial Pursuit night in Olive’s messy and ill-equipped apartment. As the game continues, Florence Unger arrives, fresh from being dumped by her husband. Fearful that the neurotic Florence might attempt suicide, Olive invites her to move in. However, Olive’s easy-going outlook on life soon clashes with Florence’s neurotic tendencies. When Olive organizes a double-date with the Costazuela brothers, their differences come to a head and sparks fly.

LET’S MURDER MARSHA by Monk Ferris

A happy housewife hopelessly addicted to reading murder mysteries, overhears her loving husband discussing her upcoming birthday surprise with an interior decorator. To her ears, though, it sounds like they are planning to murder her! With the assistance of her next-door neighbor, she tries to turn the tables on them with a poisoned potion. When her own mother shows up for her birthday a day early, Marsha thinks she is in on the diabolical scheme. When her maid’s date, a policeman, shows up to take the maid out, Marsha think he is on to her poisoning attempt. In the end, Marsha’s intended victims discover her plan, and decide to teach her a lesson by actually pretending to be murderers.

2020-2021 Season Announced by Xenia Area Community Theatre

xactThe Board of Directors of Xenia Area Community Theater is proud to announce our 2020-2021 season.

Our first show, which runs from September 11-20, 2020, will be DRINKING HABITS by Tom Smith, a comedy about an order of nuns – who also run a highly profitable winery. Auditions July 20 and 21.

Next is an Ohio premier of a serious rural comedy CONCRETE DREAMS, by Brenda Hubbard, set in Greene County in the 1960s. Brenda Hubbard has recently returned to Greene County after a career as a theater professor on the west coast, and will direct. Production dates are October 16 to 25 2020, with auditions June 29 and June 30.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, we present BEYOND GLORY by Stephen Lang, a one man show that features the stories of eight Medal of Honor winners. Lt Colonel Mike Taint (USAF, Ret.) will perform from November 6 to 15, 2020.

The holiday favorite THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAEGANT EVER by Barbara Robinson will be directed by Jennifer Sparks. Production dates are December 4 through 13 2020, with auditions September 25 and 26.

From January 22-31 2021 we present the historical drama MAY 4th VOICES, a staged reading based on actual testimony from Kent State students, faculty members, local citizens and Ohio National Guardsmen about the 1970 shootings. Craig Smith directs and auditions are November 23 and 24.

Don McKenny directs the classic British farce SEE HOW THEY RUN by Phillip King, which runs from February 26 to March 7, 2021. Auditions December 14, 15, 2020.

The historical drama THESE SHINING LIVES by Melanie Marnich, based on the true story of four women who suffered radiation poisoning working in a watch factory, runs from April 2 through 11 2021. Julie Hauwiller directs and auditions are Feb 1,2, 2021

And the season ends May 7 through 16 2021 with the return of the musical to our theater – Stephen Schwartz’s perennial favorite GODSPELL. Kirk and Melodee Bass will direct, auditions February 22, 23.
