Music directed by Greg Dastillung

What’s the buzz? JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has wowed audiences for over 40 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, SUPERSTAR follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire. The iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and “Gethsemane.”

EGAD! THE WOMAN IN WHITE Runs Aug. 10-26

TDW_Egad the Women in White logoEGAD! THE WOMAN IN WHITE
The Drama Workshop
Aug. 10-26
Glenmore Playhouse [Cheviot]

Directed by Marcha Hunley

Cast: Stephanie Klein as Dora, Larry Mills as Lawyer Gilmore, Peggy Allan as Countess Fasco, Victoria Covarrubias as Mrs. Gatherick, Alan Kootsher as Frederick Fairlee, Elizabeth Hickerson as Marian, Victoria Kirby-Schwarber as Laura/The Woman in White, Aaron Ellis as Walter Hartwright & Ann Barfels as Miss Peach

This laugh-oriented, old-fashioned melodrama is wild, fast, and funny. It features a disreputable (and hilarious) villain who dispatches his adversaries with nefarious ease, seals his wife in a madhouse to steal her vast fortune, and battles a wicked countess in one of the most uproarious fight scenes ever staged. When all else fails, he engineers mock funerals. But he’s scared of the mysterious “Woman In White” who’s escaped from the asylum to seek him out. Abandoned wives, insolent servants, lawyers, hypochondriacs, and manly drawing masters parade across the stage in gales of comedy, terminating only when the villain is brought to justice in an audience-cheering, outrageous, and spectacular finale.
