EVERY CHRISTMAS STORY EVER TOLD (AND THEN SOME!)
Cincinnati Shakespeare Company
Dec. 13-29
[Over-the-Rhine]
Directed by Jeremy Dubin
Cast: Justin McCombs, Billy Chace, Miranda McGee & Maggie Lou Rader!
What begins as another annual production of A Christmas Carol, soon devolves into a slightly irreverent look at all of our favorite “Beloved Holiday Classics” including It’s a Wonderful Life, Frosty, Rudolph, Charlie Brown and more! Three actors (with the help of Santa) send up everything from Dickens to Dr. Seuss in 90+ minutes of high octane jollity and frivolity.

THE GIFTS OF THE MAGI

[Middletown]
Directed by Josiah Miller & Charley Shafor
Music Direction by Mary Ellen Clinard
Vocal Direction by Abbie Miller
It is Christmas in New York, but for two young lovers, Jim and Della, the prospects are bleak. But as those familiar with the famous O. Henry story are aware, their dilemma is solved when both part with their most precious possessions, in order to buy presents for each other thereby creating, at least for a magical moment, an aura of warmth and giving. In addition to their story, there are glimpses of various city folk going about their holiday business, and the hilarious plight of a cheerful bum named Soapy. Enhanced by tuneful songs and neatly tied together by a newsboy narrator, named Willy!

AVENUE Q
Cincinnati Actor’s Studio & Academy
Nov. 29-Dec. 8
Essex Studios [Avondale]
Directed by Gina Cerimele-Mechley
Music directed by Janet Langhorst
Cast: Claire Adams as Lucy/Bad Idea Bear/Mrs. Thistletwat, Donnie Adams as Rod/Bad Idea Bear/Newcomer, Chloe Baron as Princeton, Nyela Burson as Gary Coleman, Grace Goodwin as Christmas Eve, Bobby Igoe as Trekkie Monster, Kaya Roll as Kate Monster, Johnny Shirer as Brian & Nick Swope as Nicky
This laugh-out-loud musical tells of a recent college grad who discovers that Avenue Q is not your ordinary neighborhood. He and his new-found “friends” struggle to find jobs, dates, and the ever-elusive purpose in life. Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention LOTS of puppets, AVENUE Q is a truly unique show that has become a favorite for audiences everywhere. For a show with lots of adult issues, this is one puppet-filled comedy, where puppets are friends, monsters are good and life lessons are learned. PG-13 for Sexual slang/Content and inappropriate language.
