This laugh-out-loud musical tells of a recent college grad who discovers that Avenue Q is not your ordinary neighborhood. He and his new-found “friends” struggle to find jobs, dates, and the ever-elusive purpose in life. Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention LOTS of puppets, AVENUE Q is a truly unique show that has become a favorite for audiences everywhere. For a show with lots of adult issues, this is one puppet-filled comedy, where puppets are friends, monsters are good and life lessons are learned. PG-13 for Sexual slang/Content and inappropriate language.

Auditions Announced for LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR at Sunset Players

SSP_logoSunset Players will hold open auditions for Neil Simon’s LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR directed by John Wesseling on Sunday, November 17 and Tuesday, November 19 at 7:00pm at the Art Center at Dunham at 1945 Dunham Way, Cincinnati, OH 45238.

Inspired by the playwright’s youthful experience as a staff writer on Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows with all the attendant comic drama, Neil Simon’s LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR focuses on the harried writing staff as they frantically scramble to top each other with gags while competing for the attention of star madman “Max Prince.”

The cast consists of seven men (young to middle age) and two women (early 20s to 30s) roles. Rehearsals begin in March, and performances are May 8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22 and 23.

Auditions will involve cold readings from the script. If you cannot make the audition dates and are interested in a role, contact John Wesseling at johnwesseling6@gmail.com to schedule an alternate audition.

Celebrating its 40th season, Sunset Players, Inc. is a community theater group located on the west side of Cincinnati. Founded in 1979, the group performs at the Arts Center at Dunham and has produced more than 145 plays. Its mission is to bring a smile, and its plays include comedies, farces, dramatic comedies and musical comedies—as long as there is some “comedy” in the performance somewhere. For more information about the 38th season, visit our website at www.sunsetplayers.org or like us on Facebook.
