Carnegie in Concert Season Closes with Nancy James on June 12

Carnegie in Concert Series Presents:
Nancy James: The Voices in My Head

Nancy James.

Nancy James.

(Covington, KY) On Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 7:30pm, the 2013-14 Carnegie in Concert season closes with the return of Cincinnati music and television legend Nancy James to the intimate stage of the Otto M. Budig Theatre.

Nancy James: The Voices in My Head features perennial Carnegie favorite and local treasure Nancy James reminiscing in song and story on her four decade career. Nancy James will take patrons down memory lane as she recalls her experiences beginning with CCM to the Bob Braun Show and beyond, along with a little help from her friends.

Broadway star and Tony nominee Pamela Myers will join James on stage along with legendary songstress Dixie Karas. Several other friends, including Jack Rouse, former executive of the Taft Broadcasting Company and founder of Jack Rouse Associates; Dick Murgatroyd, longtime director of The Bob Braun Show turned former Kentucky politician; and Nick Clooney, host of the Nick Clooney show and local news anchor; will share their sentiments via video over the course of the evening.

Through her career Nancy James won an Emmy for her work on The Bob Braun Show on WLWT from 1974-1983. Younger audiences may recognize her voice from extensive voice over work including commercials for the Cincinnati Zoo, St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Remke/Biggs, and many other local companies. Today James continues to perform around the Tri-State for weddings, special events and with area bands.

Tickets for Nancy James: The Voices in My Head are $20; $17 for Carnegie Members, WVXU Perks and Enjoy the Arts Members and students. Tickets can be purchased through The Carnegie Box Office, open Tuesday through Friday 12pm – 5pm, in person or by phone at (859) 957-1940. Tickets are also available online at www.thecarnegie.com.

Carnegie In Concert Series
Now in its seventh season in 2013-14, Carnegie in Concert strives to break the mold of chamber music offerings from yesteryear. The series challenges established programming norms by blending traditional string quartets, wind ensembles, and solo piano performances with gospel, jazz, musical theatre, Dixieland, and a cadre of other musical styles. The relationship between performer and audience is also re-imagined through an open dialogue revealing the essence of the selections and their meaning to the performers. The comfortable and intimate Otto M. Budig Theatre provides a unique environment for a unique concert experience, complete with a cash bar in the beautiful Carnegie Galleries.

About The Carnegie
The Carnegie is a multidisciplinary arts venue serving the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati community. The Carnegie is home to The Carnegie Galleries, comprised of more than 6,000 square feet of gallery space where emerging and established artists exhibit in multiple shows throughout the year; the Eva G. Budig Theatre, which offers an affordable theatre space for local, up-and-coming and established production companies and is home to The Carnegie’s Theatre and Concert Series.

The Carnegie receives ongoing operating support from ArtsWave, Kenton County Fiscal Courts, the Cincinnati Wine Festival, the Kentucky Arts Council and the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr. / US Bank Foundation.
