Job Description

Position Concept: The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, the region’s leading professional theatre, seeks a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual to serve as its Community Outreach Coordinator. This person shall heighten the Playhouse’s presence in the community and deepen our connections with it. Reports jointly to: Directors of Marketing and Education

Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates the planning, staffing, and implementation of outreach events and partnerships at the Playhouse and in the community.
  • Coordinates and organizes the necessary resources between pertinent departments to complete events successfully and on budget.
  • Serves as an on-site staff person for weekend Off-the-Hill performances at community centers and as lead Playhouse contact for community center personnel.
  • Serves as an on-site staff person for marketing and PR events throughout the season.
  • Serves as administrative staff for summer camps.
  • Represents the Playhouse at local, regional, national events as needed.
  • Conducts other duties as assigned by the Marketing Director and Education Director.
  • Manages community relations ticketing programs. 

Skills, Experience and Education Required:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a community outreach position. Proven track record of increased community engagement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented and extremely organized.
  • Out-going personality that enjoys interacting with members of the community.
  • Knowledge of and strong existing connections in the Cincinnati community preferred.
  • The ideal candidate is a self-starter, innovative, entrepreneurial, and a multi-tasker who enjoys achieving success by working with and contributing to a strong and effective team.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A passion for theatre and/or the arts is highly desirable.

This is a full time exempt position that at times will require evening and weekend hours. Salary commensurate with experience and includes full benefits.

CLP Seeks Music Director for I LEFT MY HEART

CLPCincinnati Landmark Productions is seeking a MUSIC DIRECTOR For The Covedale’s 2014 production of I LEFT MY HEART, A Salute to the Music of Tony Bennett.

Music Director Requirements: Must be able to read, play and teach music well. Able to teach all vocals/music, conduct band for all performances. Able to transcribe musical compositions and melodic lines to adapt them to a particular group, or to create a particular musical style as needed. Must be able to work in a collaborative environment and attend and play the auditions and all rehearsals as scheduled.

Music Degree required. Three years of theatrical experience preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Candidate must be able to work in an unsupervised environment. Must be a self starter, dependable, and have excellent communication skills. Good time management skills a must.

I LEFT MY HEART sports a thrilling score of 40 standards all recorded by Bennett, including “Because Of You,” “Stranger In Paradise,” “Top Hat, White Tie And Tails,” “The Best Is Yet To Come,” “On Green Dolphin Street,” “When Will The Bells Ring For Me,” “Cold, Cold Heart,” “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams,” “I Wanna Be Around,” “The Good Life,” “Rags To Riches,” and his best-known hit, “I Left My Heart In San Francisco.”

PIP Seeks Wig Master

PIP_logoCincinnati Playhouse in the Park (LORT B) seeks an experienced full-time Wig Master to begin employment for its 2013-2014 season. Duties include but are not limited to creating the wigs and hairstyles for CPIP productions based on Costume Designers’ vision for a 14 show season, and maintaining all wigs and hair goods for performances. The Wig Master will also be called on to serve as Makeup Artist when needed. For our annual production of ‘A Christmas Carol’, the Wig Master serves as crew during the run.

Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of wig construction and styling skills. Additional hair skills are a plus. Applicants must also have sufficient makeup skills, being versed in the application of corrective and character makeup, plus have knowledge and/or experience with three dimensional prosthetics. Sales Associate Position Available at The Carnegie

TC_logoThe Carnegie has an immediate opening for a Sales Associate. Requiring 14 – 18 hours per week, including many nights and weekends, the Sales Associate is responsible for day-to-day and at-the-door box office sales under the management of the Box Office Manager. The Sales Associate is also responsible for cultivating and generating group sales for Carnegie productions, implementing targeted marketing efforts, generating playbill advertisement revenue, creating reports, and other duties as necessary under the management of the Managing Director of Theatre. The position pays $12 per hour. Flexible schedule, strong people skills and an interest in the performing arts are “musts.”

Position Title: Sales Associate   Department: Theatre

Reporting Relationships

Position Reports To: Box Office Manager, Managing Director of Theatre

Position Purpose

Responsible for the sale of tickets for events scheduled at the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, as well as the generation of group sales and program advertisement opportunities and other activities pursuant to sales. The Sales Associate will report to the Box Office Manager and Managing Director of Theatre and work cooperatively with The Carnegie’s staff and its clients.

The Sales and Marketing Associate is a part-time position requiring 14-18 hours per week, including many evenings and weekends.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

  1. Facilitates box office transactions through ticket processing, data entry, and customer service.
    1. Processes walk-up, phone and online ticket orders in an efficient and courteous manner.
    2. Creates reports and other documentation for events and as needed.
    3. Provides positive customer service experiences by addressing patron ticketing issues and providing information about The Carnegie and its scheduled events.
    4. Arrives promptly and as scheduled for all events and daily duties.
  2. Generates ticket sales revenue opportunities through targeted and departmentally coordinated marketing efforts.
    1. Carries out targeted marketing efforts including (but not limited to) phone solicitation, email solicitation, postering and direct mail preparation under the direction of the Managing Director of Theatre.
    2. Cultivates relationships and sales with group sales contacts, maintaining records of communication and sales history.
  3. Generates earned revenue through program advertisement sales.
    1. Solicits sales of advertisements in programs for Carnegie in Concert and Theatre Series performances and as needed.
    2. Develops and maintains program advertisement rate card for distribution to sales targets.
    3. Creates and cultivates relationships with program advertisement contacts, maintaining records of communication and sales history.
    4. Coordinates program advertisement sales with OnStage and/or other advertising sale agencies working of The Carnegie’s behalf.
  4. Manages Carnegie accounts with ASCAP and BMI.
    1. Collects and maintains programs and / or set lists from all Carnegie performances.
    2. Provides accurate and timely reports to ASCAP and BMI, including program and / or set list information. Maintains copies and records of reports.
    3. Efficiently and accurately maintain accounts with ASCAP and BMI to minimize expenses.
  5. Establishes and maintains effective communication, coordination and collaboration with Carnegie personnel, contractors and directors.
    1. Provides accurate and complete performance information to staff.
    2. Attends and participates in meetings and functions as needed.
    3. Displays a positive attitude and willingness to contribute outside of job description, as needed.
    4. Ensures that work area is clean, secure and well-maintained.
    5. Dresses appropriately for events and meetings.
  6. Contributes towards other Carnegie tasks as needed.

Performance Measurements

  1. Sells tickets in an accurate and efficient manner.
  2. Interacts with patrons in a professional and friendly manner.
  3. Achieves program advertisement sales goals.
  4. Effectively maintains accounts with ASCAP and BMI.
  5. Achieves group sales goals.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: College degree either completed or in progress

Required Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of computer software, especially Excel and Word
  • Ticketing experience and knowledge a plus, but not required
  • Genuine interest in the performing arts

Skills/Abilities: Strong oral and written communication abilities

  • Solid computer skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Passion for the arts.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines

SBP Announces Cast for SPRING AWAKENING

SBPCincinnati’s Showbiz Players announces the cast for the regional community theater premiere of “SPRING AWAKENING, the multiple Tony-winning musical based on one of the most controversial plays in theater history.

Jennifer McGuire and Jered Ryan share directing duties, with musical direction by Alan Masters and choreography by Jules Shumate. Bill Geraghty and Mark D. Motz will produce.

SPRING AWAKENING features book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik, based on the play of the same name by Frank Wedekind. The show runs May 31 to June 8, 2013, at the Carnegie Visual & Performing Arts Center, 1028 Scott Blvd., Covingon, KY.
