The fictional Sanders Family first performed at Mount Pleasant on June 15, 1938 after a five-year hiatus from the Gospel Circuit (the setting of the musical Smoke on the Mountain – the prequel show).  This will be their last performance before the war forces the group to disband since Dennis will be shipping out to Boot Camp the day after Christmas.

Pleasant Baptist Church.  He is proud to have enlisted in the Marines instead of being drafted. He is the younger of the twins and seems willing to follow the lead of others. – Good singing voice.

Non-singers:

  1. June Sanders: Sister (30s) – No singing – June contributes to the family’s performances by playing hand-held percussion instruments and demonstrating her own interpretive “sign language.”

Young Actor Needed for THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS at the Covedale Center

CCPALooking for a talented young male performer to fill a role in our holiday production at the Covedale Center for the Performing Arts:

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
December 1 – December 23, 2016
An original musical by Tim Perrino. Lyrics by Tim Perrino, Music by Steve Goers

The Role: Young Clement C. Moore. This is a supporting role. Looking for a young male performer who can look 12 to 14 years of age on stage. He must be able to sing and act. Some movement skill a plus. Performer will portray the son of the lead character in several scenes and songs. If interested, please email headshot and theatrical resume OR experience to Jennifer Perrino at jenniferperrino@covedalecenter.com

The Show:
A glorious new musical for Christmastime! Filled with romance, heartbreak and mystery, The Nights Before Christmas reveals the dramatic life of Clement C. Moore and the writing of the poem that defined the joy of Christmas for the world, “A Visit from St. Nicholas”. Is it possible that such a serious, sour-faced, religious scholar could write a trifle about a jolly elf in a red suit? Did Moore really pen the whole poem on a sleigh ride on Christmas Eve?? Could the rumors that he is not the author be true? And if he is the author, what is the secret that prevents him from claiming it for his own?

It’s a love story that spans a lifetime, a literary mystery, a celebration of a Christmases long gone by – all wrapped up in beautiful songs like “Christmas Belongs to Her”, “Summers at Chelsea”, “Tonight, My Lullaby”, “Santa Claus is a Friend of Mine” and of course, an inspiring musical version of “T’was the Night Before Christmas”.

Rehearsals begin October 11th. Weekdays 6:30 – 10:00 pm; Sunday 6:00 – 9:30 pm.
