Auditions Announced for American Immersion Theater

American Immersion Theater is the parent company of The Murder Mystery Company, The Princess Party Company, The Superhero Experience, Famous for a Day, and Atmospheric Entertainment. We provide year round work for all kinds of actors at different skill levels. Our rehearsals are always evolving to meet the needs of the actor to help them grow and meet their goals.

We are looking for male and female performers of any age to fill minor and some lead roles. All performances are paid.

Seeking pop/rock singers who play guitar, violin, or cello; Musical theatre singer/dancers; Contemporary and hip-hop dancers.

This two-time Tony Award-winning musical, based on the Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album of the same name, is a high-energy rock opera not to be missed. Three disaffected young men, living in suburbia, have dreams of a different life in the city. They embark on their big move, only to find their friendship breaking down over family responsibilities, military enlistment, and the allure of drug abuse. Each young man must make peace with the circumstances of his life to find his way back home and to the friends he left behind.

AMERICAN IDIOT is a non-stop, rock concert of Green Day favorites, including “Holiday,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” and “Time of Your Life.”

Auditions by Appointment Only on the Following Dates:

  • April 8: 6:30 Dance Call, 7:30-9:30 Singing Auditions
  • April 9: 6:30 Dance Call, 7:30-9:30 Singing Auditions
  • April 10: Callbacks, 6:30-9:30

Singers who play instruments are encouraged to bring their instrument or accompany themselves for auditions. Contemporary and Hip-hop dancers auditioning for ensemble only do not need to sing. Actors auditioning for lead roles only do not need to dance.

Please make every attempt to attend the callback if invited.

FOR AUDITIONS:

  • If auditioning for Named Roles, please prepare 32 bars of a pop/rock song in the style of the show. Bring sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist or an instrument to accompany yourself. A cappella auditions will not be accepted.
  • If attending the dance call, wear dance attire and be prepared to learn a dance combination.

ALSO NOTE:

  • Resume listing theatrical experience and headshot/picture are required to audition. Please bring with you to the audition, do not send in advance.
  • Cast members do not have to be the actual ages of the characters, but must be able to look age appropriate and act accordingly.
  • All roles are paid. Not AEA eligible.

Available Roles: 

Johnny – Male, age 20 to 30, vocal range B2 to B4
The self-proclaimed “Jesus of Suburbia.” Bored of his do-nothing, go-nowhere existence, he takes off for the city to get a new lease on life. He wages an inner war between a budding love for Whatsername and growing dependency on St. Jimmy and drugs.
*must attend vocal call, dance call optional if only auditioning for named role 

Tunny – Male, age 20 to 30, vocal range D3 to B4
Johnny’s friend who follows him to the city and eventually enlists in the army. He travels to the Middle East. A dreamer who is easily swayed, first by Johnny’s ideas and then by patriotism and the American Dream.
*must attend vocal call, dance call optional if only auditioning for named role 

Will – Male, age 20 to 30, vocal range C#3 to A4
Johnny’s friend. He ends up staying in Suburbia to take care of pregnant girlfriend Heather. The more he stays on the couch, the more he becomes slowly disconnected from the world and his own relationships.
*must attend vocal call, dance call optional if only auditioning for named role

St. Jimmy/Ensemble – Any Gender, age 20+ vocal range C3 to F#5
Johnny’s alter ego. Known as the “city badass.” An enigmatic and charismatic enabler who gets Johnny addicted to drugs and grows jealous of his relationship with Whatsername.
*must attend dance and vocal call 

Heather/Ensemble – Female, age 20 to 30, vocal range A3 to E5
A girl in Suburbia and Will’s girlfriend. She discovers she is pregnant but has difficulty telling her boyfriend of the news. Once she settles down with him, she struggles to maintain their relationship with his despondency and eventually leaves him.
*must attend dance and vocal call

Whatsername/Ensemble – Female, age 20 to 30, vocal range F#3 to D#5
A girl in the city who falls for Johnny. A rebellious activist who is willing to follow Johnny to the ends of the earth but fights to have him embrace their authentic relationship rather than pursue his addiction.
*must attend dance and vocal call 

Extraordinary Girl/Ensemble – Female, age 20 to 35, vocal range Bb3 to E5
A girl in the Middle East who appears as a sexual hallucination to injured Tunny. She later appears as his nurse and accompanies him home after the war.
*must attend dance and vocal call 

Ensemble – 5 Dancers who can sing with chorus
A dedicated ensemble of dancers that will be featured throughout the show. Contemporary and hip-hop technique preferred. Will sing in group choral numbers.
*must attend dance call, vocal call optional if only auditioning for ensemble

Auditions Announced for MAMMA MIA! at Mason Community Players

Come Take the R.I.D.E. with MCP this summer – audition!

Auditions will be held

  • Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM
  • Friday, March 29, 2019 from 7:30 to 10:00 PM
  • Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM

All three days will be held at Theatre 42, 2752 S US Rte 42, Lebanon, OH 45036

Prepare one to two minutes of a song that showcases your vocal abilities.

Wear clothing conducive to learning a short dance routine.
Be prepared for cold readings.

MAMMA MIA! performances will be –
July 19, 20, 25, 26 & 27 @ 8:00 PM and July 21 @ 2:00 PM at Theatre 42

Director Susan Berger with the aid of Producer Matt Lisa will lead a staff which includes, Vocal Director Pete Padolik, Instrumental Director Susan Schirmer, Choreographer Eric Grimm, Stage Managers Jess Bunn and Katie Werner, and Technical Director Laureen Catlin.
