Auditions Announced for BLITHE SPIRIT at Troy Civic Theatre

Director Derek Dunavent is seeking 2 men and 5 women of various ages for the upcoming production of Noel Coward’s classic comedy, BLITHE SPIRIT. Auditions are being held Monday and Tuesday, September 22 and 23, 2025, starting at 7:00 PM.

Charles, a well-respected author, and his second wife Ruth has decided to invite the local medium, Madame Arcati, over to their house for dinner and a seance. Researching a book about spiritualism, Charles intends to prove the world of seances as fake. However, the evening does not go as planned when Madame Aracati succeeds in bringing back the spirit of Charles’ first wife, Elvira, who greatly misses Charles and has no intention of being separated from him again.

Characters:

  • Charles Condomine – English author, widower in his second marriage to Ruth
  • Ruth Condomine – Charles’ second wife, a bit jealous of his first marriage
  • Dr. Bradman – local doctor and Charles’ friend
  • Mrs Bradman – Dr. Bradman’s wife
  • Madam Arcati – local spiritualist, definitely a little bit different than her dinner companions
  • Elvira – Charles’ deceased first wife, brought back to this plane by Madame Arcati
  • Edith – the Condomine’s maid

Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Anyone auditioning should be prepared to attempt an English accent during auditions.

BLITHE SPIRIT, the second show of our 60th season, will be presented November 14-16 and 21-23, 2025, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Rehearsals will be 3-4 days a week, until the week prior to opening night.

BLITHE SPIRIT is being presented by special arrangement through Concord Theatricals, and is sponsored by Chevrolet of Troy.
