The myths, legends, and history of Miami itself echo through time in this collection of ten-minute plays written entirely by Miami University students and alumni. Miami’s most mischievous specter, Helen Peabody, will lead audiences to multiple locations to witness performances that will transcend genre and time periods, highlighting the musicality, comedy, poetry, horror, and memories that have been woven into Miami’s own rich story.

Auditions Announced for AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’ at Dayton Playhouse

Auditions: November 5 – 6, 2018 at The Dayton Playhouse at 7pm

Seeking Actor/Singers that have comedic ability, move well, a varied vocal range, and are able to handle tight vocal harmonies. Looking to cast three ladies and two gentleman.

To audition, please prepare 16 bars of a song in the style of the show. Accompanist provided.

ROLES

  • Andre– African American male, age 25-45. Baritone. An unrepentant party hound. A flirt and a bit of a womanizer.
  • Armelia– African American female, age 25-55. Soprano. A voluptuous and sassy woman. Very strong-willed and not afraid to share her thoughts.
  • Charlaine– African American female, age 18-35. Mezzo. A sweet, young lady. Very innocent.
  • Ken– African American male, age 25-55. Bari-Tenor. Jovial, cheerful, and loud. Larger than life.
  • Nell– African American female, age 30-45. Mezzo. Confident and charming. A knowledgeable woman of the world.

Auditions Announced for EUNICE: STAR AND CLAY at University of Dayton

UOD_logoEUNICE: STAR AND CLAY, an original work co-produced by the Theatre, Dance, and Performance Technology Program and OFP Theatre & Productions, recipient of the Ohio Governor’s Award for the Arts 2018.

Seeking professional actors for this Non-Union Paid Poetic Drama/Musical production at the University of Dayton Boll Theatre.

  • Please prepare a song and bring sheet music for accompanist if planning to audition for the role of Eunice/Nina or another part that indicates singing (see below).
  • Readings from the script will be used for the audition, no prepared monologue is necessary.
  • Resume and headshot welcomed but not required.

Synopsis:
A riveting poetic musical about the Black activist, classically trained pianist and High Priestess of Soul being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Born Eunice Waymon, Nina Simone captures the spirit of her heritage, womanhood, racial oppression and the Black Arts Movement through her global musical platform. This original production honors Nina Simone’s legacy while imagining her artistic and activist responses to the current movement.

DESCRIPTION: Evie Malone, a college senior and gamer girl, has it all figured out. She commands a top-ranked guild in World of Warcraft with her virtual boyfriend, and makes money writing love letters for people having relationship problems. She makes game plans, employs strategies, and doesn’t take stupid risks…until she falls in love in real life. No amount of gaming expertise will help her out when she finds herself with a non-virtual, totally real, and incredibly cute boyfriend.

A rom-com for the digital generation, IN LOVE AND WARCRAFT is a new take on society and romance in the age of the Internet with plenty of fantasy, adventure, and humor.
