Live-Streamed & Fritz Hall Black Box Theatre [Online | Dayton]

The night after a queer bar outside of Tampa, Florida is vandalized, three twenty-something bartenders gather to grieve, rage, and above all, piece together the events of the night before. Fiery and poetic, Laced, ferociously celebrates the spaces in which we find our truest selves. In a time of renewed culture wars against queer youth, this play centers the voices of those intersectional identities we should be listening to now.

9/30/21 COVID-19 Policy: For in-person audiences, masks are required. The three actors will be unmasked and are fully vaccinated.

After Caitlin Gabriel survives a deadly shooting at her high school, she struggles to tell her story to her parents, the authorities, and anyone who will listen. But there are other narratives that gain purchase in the media and paint her in a different light. Renowned Hollywood screenwriter Scott Z. Burns returns to the stage with this bold and chilling play that asks us to examine our relationship to the truth and the lies that claim to heal us.

This beautiful operetta by Victor Herbert and Glenn MacDonough is the latest collaboration between the Theatre, Dance, and Performance Technology program and the Department of Music.

BABES IN TOYLAND is a coming of age story where the peaks of comedy and valleys of tragedy meet in an in-between land: A dark forest where the highest stakes hinge on life and death. The story includes heroines, heroes, villains, an evil mastermind, spiders, and familiar characters from the Mother Goose nursery rhymes of your past. In collaboration with Tristan Cupp, Dayton’s premier puppeteer, this story celebrates the innocence of childhood while engaging deeper themes of adulthood.
