PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE Runs July 22-31

LTC_Picasso at the Lapin Agile logoPICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE
Lebanon Theatre Company
July 22-31
Lebanon

Cast: Jacob Campbell as Pablo Picasso, Kevin Wall as Albert Einstein, Spencer Berta as Charles Dabernow Schmendiman, Dana Clark as Germaine, Rachel Brandenburg as Suzanne, Kase Corstanje as Freddy, Sophie Janidlo as The Countess, Jacob Van Atta as Gaston, Cole Hankins as Singer & Sophie Janidlo as a Female Admirer

This long running Off-Broadway absurdist comedy places Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian cafe in 1904, just before the renowned scientist transformed physics with his theory of relativity and the celebrated painter set the art world afire with cubism. In his first comedy for the stage, Steve Martin plays fast and loose with fact, fame and fortune as these two geniuses muse on the century’s achievements and prospects as well as other fanciful topics with infectious dizziness.

Bystanders, including Picasso’ agent, the bartender and his mistress, Picasso’s date, an elderly philosopher, Charles Dabernow Schmendimen, and an idiot inventor introduce additional flourishes of humor. The final surprise patron to join the merriment at the Lapin Agile is a charismatic dark haired singer time warped in from a later era.

SPAMALOT Run July 8-17

CAST_Spamalot promoSPAMALOT
Commonwealth Artists Summer Theatre
July 8-17
Highlands High School [Fort Thomas]

Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur’s quest to find the Holy Grail. Inspired by the classic comedy film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical also diverts a bit from more traditional versions of the legend. Instead, Spamalot features shennanigans including a line of beautiful dancing girls, a flatulent Frenchmen and killer rabbits. Outside, there is plague with a 50% chance of pestilence and famine. Throughout the show, Arthur, traveling with his servant Patsy, recruits several knights to accompany him on his quest, including Sir Bedevere, Sir Robin, Sir Lancelot and Sir Galahad. Besides the rabbits and farting Frenchman, they meet such characters as the Lady of the Lake, Prince Herbert, Tim the Enchanter, Not Dead Fred, the Black Knight and the Knights who say Ni.
