Free! SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK Runs Aug. 1-29

CSC_Free ShakespeareCincinnati Shakespeare Company is proud to present FREE Shakespeare in the Park performances each year!

Since 2006, Cincinnati Shakespeare has traveled to parks and communities all over the tri-state area, with last year reaching record breaking attendance!   We present full length Shakespeare production featuring our touring company, all members of our resident professional ensemble.

The 2014 Shakespeare in the Park tour will begin in August of 2014.  The schedule is below and is subject to change- check back later this summer to confirm!  Showtimes will be posted this summer.

VP Seeks Two Volunteers

VP_logoVillage Players is seeking 2 friendly volunteers from 630pm-930pm next week. Those individuals will help the Vice Chair with our membership drive.  It’s super easy and everything will be provided for you, including pizza for dinner.  Also, those 2 lucky individuals will receive one free season subscription to Village Players’ 2014/2015 season (privately donated). How great is that?

2014 ACT Honorary Awards

ACT_purpleEach member organization is tasked with nominating someone for three Honorary Awards. These awards recognize the tireless efforts the nominees have contributed to not only making their respective theatres work, but also their dedication to community theatre. The recipients are chosen by a panel consisting of the past years winners plus a representative from the rotating list of groups. The selection process is given a lot of thought and discussion. Here is an overview of what the awards are and the winners.

The Roger Grooms Award
Established in 2007
Known for his wit, eloquence, charm and passion for theatre, Roger Grooms supported the artistic growth of theater in our region throughout his long career as an educator, film and dramatic critic, actor and director of plays and musicals. This award is therefore given annually in Roger’s memory to honor an individual who has demonstrated dedication to raising the artistic quality of community theater production through active teaching and/or by demonstrating sustained excellence in the categories of directing, acting. Choreography, musical or vocal direction.
The recipient this year is Burt McCollom.

The Mario Pitocco Award
Established in 1988
To preserve and encourage innovative technical theatre in memory of Mario Pitocco, this award is presented annually to honor an individual who has shown continuous service and excellence in creative technical theatre, including, but not limited to: costuming, house management lighting sound program, props, set décor, set design, set construction, stage management, etc.
This recipient this year is Patrick Downey.

The Art Rouse Award
Established in 1976
Art Rouse is remembered for promoting theatre in general and specifically striving to improve the quality of community theatre in the Greater Cincinnati area, as well as the state level. It is in his memory and to the ideal of service to community theatre that we annually honor an individual who best exemplifies this exceptional commitment and dedication.
The recipient this year is Gittee Bortz.
