TDW_!940s Radio Christmas Carol1940’s RADIO CHRISTMAS CAROL
Presented by The Drama Workshop
Dec. 6-22
Cheviot

Directed by Dennis Murphy

A true trip into the past, A 1940’s Radio Christmas Carol is a fun holiday musical that will sing its way into your heart. On Christmas Eve, 1943 the Feddington Players are all set to broadcast their contemporary take on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol from a hole-in-the-wall studio in Newark, N.J. Whether it’s the noisy plumbing, missed cues, electrical blackouts or the over-the-top theatrics of veteran actor—but radio novice—William St. Claire, this production is an entertaining excursion into the mayhem of an old-time live radio show.

BOEING, BOEING presented by The Carnegie and UC College-Conservatory of Music Drama through Nov. 24

Opening night’s performance of BOEING, BOEING was fine but still needed some polishing. The timing felt off and it didn’t have the pacing that makes a farce truly entertaining. The male leads almost reached the manic energy level needed near the end of the first act, but that momentum was lost over intermission. Berthe would have worked better with a French accent that allowed more of her lines to be understood.

VP_A Year with Frog and ToadA YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD
Presented by Village Players
Dec. 6-15
Fort Thomas

Directed by Ivory Mazur

Cast: Tatiana Godfrey as Frog, Doug Bruening as Toad, Lindsey Morgan as Bird/Mouse/Mother Frog/Dancing Mole/Fish, Isabella Siska as Bird/Young Frog/Dancing Mole, Judy Sceifres as Bird/Turtle/Father Frog/Singing Mole, Richie Macknight as Mole #2/Squirrel #1/Fish, Lucy Mullen as Mole #1/Squirrel #2/Fish, RJ Caldwell as The Large and Terrible Frog, Merritt Beischell as Lizard/Dancing Mole & Ivory Mazur as Snail

Well-loved characters hop from the page to the stage in this Tony-nominated musical. This whimsical show follows the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad through four seasons. Waking from hibernation, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding, and learn life lessons along the way. Part vaudeville and part make believe, with a jazzy, upbeat score, “Frog and Toad” is an enchanting musical for all ages.

Panelists for the League of Cincinnati Theatres (LCT) have recognized featured actor Shaun Sutton for his work in the BOEING, BOEING, co-produced by The Carnegie and the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music’s Drama department.

BOEING, BOEING is a comic farce featuring the antics of Bernard, a playboy who has juggled his romances with three beautiful flight attendants until a change in their schedules brings them to his flat all on the same night. Panelists particularly praised Shaun Sutton’s “impressive” portrayal of Robert, Bernard’s friend: “His use of facial expressions and body really helped sell the physical comedy of the role.”

Boeing, Boeing continues through November 24th. Tickets can be obtained online at www.thecarnegie.com.

Nominations for LCT awards will be determined and announced at the end of the season and winners awarded at the annual LCT gala in the spring.
