INTO THE WOODS Cancelled at Royal Theatre Company

RTC_logoDear ROYAL Theatre family and supporters,

We miss you all so much! We hope this message finds you doing well. The times we’re in seem filled with uncertainty and stress, so we hope that despite all of this, you are able to enjoy some extra time with your families. This is the time for all of us to rally around each other, albeit we may “rally” virtually instead of in person, but we’re able to support each other nonetheless.

We’ve been struggling with how to proceed with the show with everything that’s been going on with the coronavirus. With the daily changes in the size and scope of gatherings that are allowed, it creates a tough situation for us and our theatre to venture into the unknown and hope that we’re making the best decisions for the health and well-being of everyone involved.

At this point, there are more unknowns than knowns, but the CDC has recommended that no groups of 50 convene through at least May 10. It seems we’re on a trajectory for a much longer-term ban on group gatherings than we had hoped. It truly breaks our hearts to make this decision, but we feel that the most responsible decision is to cancel our spring show INTO THE WOODS. We’ve consulted with the ROYAL board, and although we’re all devastated by this, they agree that it’s an unfortunate decision we need to make to ensure the safety and well-being of our entire ROYAL family and audience members.

We wish things were different. We wish our community, as well as our country and other countries, didn’t have to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. It’s hard on all of us. One thing we do know is that the ROYAL family cares for one another and our community, and we are resilient! We will get through this time together. Let’s all stay connected and support each other through phone calls, email, texts, social media, group chats, and any other sources that help us to be there for each other.

Take care and stay safe,
Karen, Dirk, and the ROYAL Board of Directors

SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN Cancelled at Cincinnati Music Theatre

cmt_logoDue to the evolving impact of COVID-19 and the directives from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine regarding the ban on public gatherings until further notice, we are deeply saddened and disappointed to announce that CMT’s production of SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN, scheduled for May 8-16, 2020 at the Aronoff Center’s Jarson-Kaplan Theater, has been cancelled.

This was a very difficult decision to make, but your CMT Board of Trustees feels it is in the best interest of our many volunteers and audience members to keep everyone safe and healthy. We look forward to the time when we can once again gather to enjoy the friendship and collaborative efforts involved in our favorite hobby, live theater.

We are offering three options for all tickets purchased for Singin’ in the Rain, which will be processed by the Cincinnati Arts Association’s Ticketing Services staff:

  1. CREDIT your account for the value of your ticket(s) toward a CMT 2020-21 Season subscription. Details about purchasing a subscription will be available later this summer.
  2. DONATE the value of your ticket(s) purchased to Cincinnati Music Theatre (a not-for-profit community theater) to help us continue our mission of providing high quality musicals at an affordable price to the audiences of Greater Cincinnati.
  3. REFUND the value of your ticket(s).

Please contact CAA Ticketing Services at ticketing@cincinnatiarts.org no later than May 1, 2020 with your preferred ticketing option (CREDIT, DONATE, or REFUND).

2020-2021 Season Updated at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

PIP_logoWe hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Your well-being is extremely important to us, and that’s why we’ve made so many changes to our regularly scheduled productions.

We are excited to share that we will now open the 2020-21 season with Agatha Christie’s thrilling MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, and the humorous and uplifting BECOMING DR. RUTH, presented by The Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati!

This means our trip to the Emerald City in The Wizard of Oz is going to be postponed for a future season. While we will miss going down the Yellow Brick Road this fall, we’re incredibly excited for you to experience this highly anticipated murder mystery. Likewise, our previously scheduled production of the heartfelt and cathartic Tiny Beautiful Things will move later in the 2020-21 season and take the place of the world premiere play Rooted, which we look forward to producing in the future.
