Magician Cody Clark of Louisville, Ky Returns to Cincy Fringe with New Show

CFF19_Origins of My Magic PosterMagician Cody Clark of Louisville, Ky Returns to Cincy Fringe with His New Show, THE ORIGINS OF MY MAGIC

May 2, 2019 (LOUISVILLE, KY) – Magician/autistic self-advocate Cody Clark is returning to the Cincinnati Fringe Festival to perform his second touring magic show The Origins of My Magic. He will be at the First Lutheran Church Lounge in Over-the-Rhine on 1208 Race St. for eight shows June 1st-15th.

In his newest show, Cody answers the question of where his magic comes from. Rather than coming from sleight of hand moves and arcane secrets, he feels it comes from the people, places, things, and ideas that have fundamentally shaped his life. These include classic country music, Dolly Parton, Mr. Rogers, magic legend/hometown hero Lance Burton, and his family, friends, teachers, and mentors.

Cody is a professional magician and autistic self-advocate from Louisville, KY. His first fringe festival engagement was the 2015 Cincy Fringe, when he performed his flagship show Cody Clark: A Different Way of Thinking, in which he uses his routines to share what it’s like to live with autism. He’s since performed that show at 15 other fringe festivals, small theaters, and schools. He’s had so much fun on the fringe circuit that he created this new show to return to his favorite fringe festivals, which also includes the 2019 Orlando Fringe concluding right before Cincy Fringe. He also has a children’s show themed to railroading called Conductor Cody and in March 2018, his childhood dream of performing with Lance Burton came true at the Louisville Palace, where he was in the cast of Lance Burton & Friends.

Cody’s shows will take place on Sat. June 1st at 6:30 PM, Sun. June 2nd at 4:45 PM, Tue. June 4th at 8:30 PM, Thur. June 6th at 7 PM, Sat. June 8th at 7:45 PM, Sun. June 9th at 4 PM, Tue. June 11th at 7 PM, and Thur. June 13th at 8:30 PM. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.cincyfringe.com , at The Know Theatre, or at the venue doors. Multi-show passes for the entire festival are also available. For more information about Cody, you may go to www.codyclarkmagic.com.

Magician/Autism Rights Advocate Cody Clark to Perform Solo and Childrens Show at Haines House of Cards June 16-17

Diff Way at Haines PostcardMAGICIAN/AUTISM RIGHTS ADVOCATE CODY CLARK TO PERFORM CODY CLARK: A DIFFERENT WAY OF THINKING SOLO SHOW AND CONDUCTOR CODY CHILDRENS SHOW AT HAINES HOUSE OF CARDS JUNE 16-17

May 15, 2017 (CINCINNATI, OH) – Having had a lot of fun performing this show at the 2015 Cincinnati Fringe Festival, Louisville magician/autism rights advocate Cody Clark will be bringing CODY CLARK TO PERFORM CODY CLARK: A DIFFERENT WAY OF THINKING back to Cincinnati June 16-17th at 7 PM both nights at Haines House of Cards in Norwood. In his show, Cody uses the arts of magic, theatre, and storytelling to give audiences a first-person account of living with autism. Cody will also be performing a matinee children’s show called CONDUCTOR CODY on the 17th at 1 PM. This show, inspired by George Carlin’s Mr. Conductor character on the PBS children’s TV show Shining Time Station, takes children on a magical railway themed adventure.

As for his main show, since Cody feels that his autism causes him to see the world differently, he uses his magic to illustrate this to his audiences. His routines are placed within his life story, starting at birth and ending with his recent graduation from the University of Louisville. Audiences will get to join him in reliving experiences ranging from visits to his Memaw’s house to the pain of romantic rejection.

Cody has been performing magic for twelve years, utilizing his magic to spread his message of autism acceptance. He tours with his one-man show at small theatres and fringe festivals across the United States, with his first fringe festival appearance being Cincy Fringe and since then including eight other fringe festivals. Haines House of Cards is one of America’s oldest magic shops, having been founded in 1947 to build card magic apparatus for the United States Playing Card Company. Cody’s appearance will be among the first of many future public magic shows Haines will host.

Tickets for CODY CLARK TO PERFORM CODY CLARK: A DIFFERENT WAY OF THINKING will be $15, $10 for CONDUCTOR CODY, or $20 for both. Tickets can be purchased online at www.hainesmagicshop.com or at the door.

Know Theatre Announces Double Bill Fringe Encore CODY CLARK and HITCHHIKERS MAY BE INMATES on March 30-April 2

CODY CLARK: A Different Way of Thinking
 from Cody Clark

and

HITCHHIKERS MAY BE INMATES
from Kevin Crowley

Know Theatre is delighted to announce the penultimate Fringe Encore of the 2015/16 Season, a double bill featuring two vastly different theatrical experiences, each with a unique voice you’ll definitely want to hear again — or for the first time!

CFF_Cody Clark

Cody Clark.

CODY CLARK: A Different Way of Thinking, from magician Cody Clark of Louisville, was one of the most talked-about productions at the 2015 Cincinnati Fringe Festival. Cody was revered by local critics as “a talented and fearless young performer” with “formidable sleight of hand.”(Joshua Steele, Cincinnati CityBeat).

Cody Clark has a different way of thinking, a different way of seeing the world. He discovered his love for magic at age 11, 9 years and 9 months after his parents discovered he had autism. Through stage magic and story, sleight of hand and journey of mind, Cody will show you the world through his eyes. Maybe you’ll find that his way of thinking isn’t all too different from yours.

Cody’s exciting, unique brand of magic is based on over 10 years of experience as a magician, along with his experience from studying Marketing and Theatre Arts at the University of Louisville.  He has presented his one-man show at the Slant Culture Theatre Festival in Louisville and at Wizardz Magic Theatre in Newport, KY. He also is a regular performer on the monthly magic show circuit, which includes Derby City Magic in Louisville, Indy Magic Monthly in Indianapolis and Magic Chicago.

CFF_Hitchhikers May Be InmatesHITCHHIKERS MAY BE INMATES, from Kevin Crowley (2014 Critics’ Pick Winner for Sarge) also received high praise from audiences and critics alike. Actors Michael Bath and Kevin Crowley, commended as some of Cincinnati’s “most engrossing and captivating performers” (Kirk Sheppard, Cincinnati CityBeat), return with “the best performances of the [2015 Cincinnati Fringe] festival” (Rob Bucher, Behind the Curtain Cincinnati).

Dave is new to AA and struggling mightily. His sponsor, JD, has his own tenuous grasp on sobriety and is exactly what Dave doesn’t need. Their evening spent flirting with disaster is funny and cautionary.

Kevin Crowley returns for this Fringe Encore of his 2015 production at the Festival, following his 2014 Fringe hit, “Sarge.” Crowley also acts, alongside Michael Bath, directed by Buz Davis co-members of the lauded local theater company The Clifton Players. Crowley, Bath and Davis have worked together on several of Clifton Players hit shows, Irish Curse, disgruntled employees, and A Behanding in Spokane.

Fringe Producer Chris Wesselman is elated to return to Clifton Performance Theatre (CPT) for another Encore presentation, stating, “The intimacy of CPT lends itself so wonderfully to Fringe productions. The excitement and energy pulsing from the stage immediately in front of you makes for a wonderful theatrical experience and we’re thrilled to have CPT hosting another Fringe Encore event.”

Both productions will run for three nights, March 31, April 1 and 2, with Cody Clark at 7:30pm and Hitchhikers… at 8:45pm.
