Filled with romance, heartbreak and mystery, The Nights Before Christmas reveals the dramatic life of Clement C. Moore and the writing of the poem he gave to the world, “A Visit from St. Nicholas”. Could such a sour-faced scholar write a trifle about a jolly elf in a red suit? Did he really pen the poem on a Christmas Eve sleigh ride? Could the rumors that he is not the author be true? But what secret prevents him from claiming it for his own?

Auditions Announced for Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre

CYPT_logoCincinnati Young People’s Theatre (CYPT) announces audition for its 36th Annual Summer Musical. Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BAST. Music by Alan Menken; Lyrics by Howard Ashman & Tim Rice; Book by Linda Woolverton

AUDITION DATES:

  • Saturday, May 13th,
  • Sunday, May 14th
  • Monday, May 15th

Where: The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts
4990 Glenway Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45238

Auditions are by appointment and may be set up as of Wednesday, March 1st. Must be 13 – 19 years of age at the time of the audition.

The Show: The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

What is CYPT? Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre (CYPT) provides a summer of great experience for performers and techies alike. Many of our members are now professional actors, singers, dancers, technicians and musicians. Others are Drama, Opera, Music Theatre, Voice, Music and Broadcasting majors at colleges all over the country. To date, over 2,200 teens have been a part of CYPT!

CYPT has produced 35 years of exciting shows, including: Jesus Christ Superstar, Footloose, 42nd Street, Children of Eden, Hello Dolly, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Anything Goes, The Pajama Game, Godspell, Les Miserables, Crazy For You, The Wedding Singer, Grease, Footloose, Hairspray, West Side Story and many more!

The building tension between civilized surface and savage instinct brings shocked laughter, riveting drama and no-hold-barred suspense. Young Male Needed for THE NIGHTS BEFORE CHRISTMAS at Covedale Center

CCPAWe’ve one role to fill in our holiday production of THE NIGHTS BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

An original work by Tim Perrino. Lyrics by Tim Perrino, Music by Steve Goers.

A glorious new musical for Christmastime! Filled with romance, heartbreak and mystery, The Nights Before Christmas reveals the dramatic life of Clement C. Moore and the writing of the poem that defined the joy of Christmas for the world, “A Visit from St. Nicholas”. Is it possible that such a serious, sour-faced, religious scholar could write a trifle about a jolly elf in a red suit? Did Moore really pen the whole poem on a sleigh ride on Christmas Eve?? Could the rumors that he is not the author be true? And if he is the author, what is the secret that prevents him from claiming it for his own?

The Role: Young Clement Moore’s son is sometimes sneaky, but never malicious. A good boy who idolizes his father and is willing to show affection for his family, even in front of others, he will be lost to disease before he is of age as well.

REQUIREMENTS: Male, 10 to 14 years of age.
Must be an excellent reader and be comfortable with singing AND MUST BE AVAILABLE – really. This is a paid role.
