Sound Board Operator Sought by Cincinnati Landmark Productions

CLPA Sound Board Operator (Part-time position)

Cincinnati Landmark Productions, the parent theatrical organization for The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts and the Warsaw Federal Incline Theater is seeking a Sound Board Operator.

Start date: Monday, July 12, 2021.

Basic Job Description: The sound board operator will run the sound board for Cincinnati Landmark Productions’ performances. There are 10 productions a year and some special events throughout the year.

Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:

  • Run the sound console as directed by the Sound Designer.
  • Attend all technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals and performances in two venues – The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts and the new Warsaw Federal Incline Theater.
  • Run any and all special events as scheduled.
  • Complete dimmer checks and sound check before the show and correct any problems, including, replacing batteries for wireless mic system, replacement of fixture lamps, touch up focus, check fluids in hazers, fog machines, etc…

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience in running a sound board is preferred. Both Theaters have Yamaha digital mixing console QL5.
  • Basic knowledge of theatre sound and lighting is preferred.
  • Clear understanding of all functions of sound board and how a system is put together.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age, have high school diploma or equivalency, some college preferred.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Candidate would have previous theatrical, technical experience (Preferred).
  • Must be able to work in an unsupervised environment.
  • Must be a self-starter, dependable, and have excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must be willing and able to work nights and weekends of all performances.

Covedale Center for the Performing Arts shows run for 4 weeks on Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays 2pm. Call is 1 and ½ hour prior to showtime. Tech/dress rehearsals are in the evenings starting on the Thursday before opening.

The Warsaw Federal Incline Theater shows run for 4 weeks on Wednesday and Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays 2pm. Call is 1 and ½ hour prior to showtime. Tech/dress rehearsals are in the evenings starting on the Thursday before opening.

Hourly pay range: $13 – $15

Covedale Subscribers can renew their Subscription Packages starting June 7. Individual show tickets go on sale August 16. Renewal Deadline to keep your same day and seats is August 13.

Subscription account holders will receive a statement in the mail in the coming weeks with updated account information, confirming your seat assignments and performance dates. You can renew your seats by filling out the form at the bottom of your statement and sending it in OR by calling the Box Office at (513) 241-6550 starting June 7.

Enjoy an upbeat and exciting musical show featuring some of the biggest songs from the 1950s, 60s and 70s – complete with The Farm’s famous dinner buffet!

The hour-long show features talent from Cincinnati Landmark Productions (CLP) – the owners/operators of the Covedale Center for the Performing Arts and Warsaw Federal Incline Theater. With wonderful songs from three striking decades, the BLAST FROM THE PAST Dinner Show will surely rock your clock, get your boots a’walking but definitely NOT go breaking your heart!

The Farm has been Cincinnati’s West Side spot for great food and great times for more than 50 years. Known for their fabulous fried chicken, steamboat round of beef and seafood, the Blast from the Past Dinner Show menu includes generous side dishes and delicious desserts as well.

And everything is set up with the patrons’ safety in mind. Tables and chairs are spaced according to State of Ohio protocols. Capacity in the ballroom has been reduced by 66% to ensure safety as well as sightlines for the show. Masks will be required for patrons when not eating and drinking. All food at the buffet will be plated by The Farm staff. Dinner includes soft drinks, iced tea and coffee. A cash bar is also available.

Showtime is 8pm nightly. Dinner begins at 7pm.

The national award-winning Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre (CYPT) will hold In-Person auditions for its 40th Anniversary production – JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT – at the Madcap Education Center, 3064 Harrison Avenue on the following dates: April 30, May 1 & 2.

New this year, performers and technicians can also audition via Video Link. Auditions by either method will be equally considered.

For Either Option: All auditionees must get an application packet in advance by emailing Jennifer Perrino at jenniferperrino@clpshows.org. Please request: In-Person Audition or Video Link Audition.

All participants must be 13 – 20 years of age at the time of the audition. Rehearsals Begin Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Performances: July 21 – August 8, 2021. Full information below.

  2. Bring your completed audition packet to your audition appointment. You must provide your age, a good phone number and an email address when setting up your audition.
  3. Arrive 15 minutes BEFORE the scheduled audition time to fill out paperwork.
  4. Please prepare a song from a musical theatre show that best represents your singing voice. Please bring sheet music for our accompanist. Do not expect to sing a cappella or with pre-recorded music.
  5.  Dress appropriately as you will be required to complete a dance audition.
  6. JOSEPH…DREAMCOAT is a sung-thru musical. You will not read from a script at auditions.
  7. All auditionees must complete all parts of the audition.

  3. Link(s) to your audition video (Should feature you singing and dancing; see note below).

Please note: Your video link may include previous shows/roles or your “audition reel” or something you create for this audition. The team will want to see you, hear you sing, and get a sense of how you move. The video links will not be judged on technical quality, but only on your appropriateness to the roles available in the show as demonstrated in the recording.

Interviews will be set up for those interested in working tech for this production. Set up your interview by emailing Jennifer Perrino, Producer at jenniferperrino@CLPShows.org to request a time slot.

Interviews slots include:

Other Important Information:

  • All Rehearsals and Performances will be held at Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, 4990 Glenway Avenue, 45238.
  • Participation Fee: All participants (on stage and off) are required to pay a participation fee for this summer program. Fee will be due at the first rehearsal: $175.00 for performers (includes costume and show t-shirt); $50.00 for Techies (includes show t-shirt).
  • Please Note: A limited amount of funds are in place to assist with the participation fee. Funds are distributed on a confidential basis. Everyone is encouraged to audition, regardless of ability to pay! Choosing the cast of the show is based upon talent, enthusiasm and availability only. Ability to pay the participation fee is never a factor in casting decisions.

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT
One of the most fantastic shows ever written, Joseph… has TONS of roles, for women and men…GREAT songs… a WILD plot. Plus, the show really is just a dream – allowing for maximum creativity, excitement, crazy characters, hilarious anachronism and one stellar song after another.

A reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, the show is told entirely through song. After being betrayed by his brothers, Joseph travels to Egypt, ends up in jail, interprets the dreams of the Pharaoh and eventually forgives and reunites with his family!

The show is full of great songs in a variety of styles, from a parody of French ballads (“Those Canaan Days”), to country-western (“One More Angel in Heaven”) and calypso (“Benjamin Calypso”), along with the unforgettable classics “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door.”

Women’s Roles: Narrator 1,Narrator 2, Narrator 3, Napthali, Isaachar, Asher, Gad, Judah, Zebulum, Butler, Mrs. Potiphar, Harem (dance ensemble), Jacob’s Wives ensemble, Prisoners ensemble, Guards.

Men’s Roles: Jacob, Joseph, Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Dan, Benjamin, Pharaoh, Potiphar, Baker, Old Testament Ensemble, Ishmaelites Ensemble, Prisoners Ensemble, Guards

What is CYPT? Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre provides a summer of great experience for performers and techies alike. Many alumni are professional actors, singers, dancers, technicians and musicians. Others are Drama, Opera, Music Theatre, Voice, Music and Broadcasting majors at colleges all over the country. To date, over 2,300 teens have been a part of CYPT!

CYPT has produced 38 years of exciting shows, including: Legally Blonde, Jesus Christ Superstar, Footloose, Children of Eden, Hello Dolly, Anything Goes, The Pajama Game, Godspell, Les Misérables, Crazy For You, The Wedding Singer, Grease, Hairspray, West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast, The Music Man and many more!

CYPT is the recipient of the Post-Corbett Award for Outstanding Arts Organization, plus, the National Recreation and Parks Arts and Humanities Award, and the Ohio State Award for Best Student Program.

CYPT brings together 100 teens each summer, on stage and off. In 2019, participants came from 40 different schools, from all over the Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana region.

CYPT is for you! The teenage performer/techie interested in three things: 1) Theatrical Experience; 2) A Summer project with a difference; 3) A lot of new friends with the same interests.

FROSTBITE FOLLIES 2020 Benefits Cincinnati Landmark Productions

Even when we can’t be together in person, we can still celebrate the magic of the holiday season. Cincinnati Landmark Productions announces today its first-ever virtual production: FROSTBITE FOLLIES 2020!

It’s fun, light and a celebration of the holiday season, featuring 60 minutes of well-known songs and comedy sketches performed by a small troupe of veteran actors filmed live at our venues earlier this month.

Patrons can purchase a virtual ticket for only $25, and all proceeds support Cincinnati Landmark Productions during this very difficult time.

FROSTBITE FOLLIES will be available on-line from December 11-27. Extended through Jan. 3rd! Patrons who purchase the virtual ticket can enjoy the performance whenever they would like and as often as they’d like during that time. Links will be emailed on December 11 or on the date of purchase during the run of the virtual show.

Note: the password-protected performance will be hosted on Vimeo, the popular streaming web site. Check to see if your smart TV has the Vimeo app – or if you have to ability to send a video from your phone, tablet or computer to your television – to enjoy this show on your big screen!

Cincinnati Landmark Productions like many arts organizations has been severely impacted by the pandemic and related shutdown/restrictions. Revenue losses are estimated at over $1 million. In addition to contributing to its Annual Fund Drive, patrons can help the organization survive by purchasing virtual tickets to this show.

FROSTBITE FOLLIES was staged and rehearsed with masks and social distancing for the safety of all involved. Performers were asked to be tested directly before filming, and all tests were negative.
