A CHRISTMAS CAROL
December 1 – 23, 2022
Adapted by Tim Perrino, Music by Jeremy Helmes, Lyrics by Tim Perrino
Based on the book by Charles Dickens
The Covedale’s own very merry musical production, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, makes its triumphant return for the holidays! Our musical version of the classic Dickens tale is deeply faithful to the original, featuring the mean miser Scrooge, Tiny Tim and the most famous haunters of all – the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future! And it’s all wrapped up in exciting songs like, “Bring Back Christmas”, “On the Streets of Bethlehem”, “The Candle Carol” and many more. It’s been nine years since this show has brightened the Covedale stage. Come experience this “Ghost story of Christmas” again OR for the very first time. It’s a marvelous, merry way to share the yuletide with family and friends. God bless us everyone!

NEWSIES presented by Warsaw Federal Incline Theatre through June 26. I attended the closing Wednesday performance.

After hearing nothing but good things about this production, I was fortunate enough to be invited by a friend who had an extra ticket (Thanks, Karen!).
The strong ensemble is led by Peter Neureuther as Jack Kelly, Evan Blust as Crutchie (great job modifying your choreography), Andrew Burke as Davey Jacobs and Grace Marie Rusnica as Katherine Plummer. Neureuther and Rusnica share great chemistry as their attraction for each other builds over the course of the show. Vocally the performances are wonderful both in the solos and in the ensemble numbers.
Director Eric Byrd maintains great energy and pacing throughout, taking full advantage of his performance areas. The choreography is sharp and well-executed throughout although I did find a few of the re-used steps to be a bit repetitive.
Overall, a highly entertaining, high energy production perfect for the whole family.
My rating: 4.75 out of 5.
