Show Info: What would you do if you had all eternity?
Eleven-year-old Winnie Foster yearns for a life of adventure beyond her white picket fence, but not until she becomes unexpectedly entwined with the Tuck Family does she get more than she could have imagined. When Winnie learns of the magic behind the Tuck’s unending youth, she must fight to protect their secret from those who would do anything for a chance at eternal life. As her adventure unfolds, Winnie faces an extraordinary choice: return to her life, or continue with the Tucks on their infinite journey. Based on best-selling children’s classic by Natalie Babbitt and adapted for the stage by Claudia Shear and Tim Federle, Tuck Everlasting features a soaring score from Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen.

What to prepare and bring:

  • Song: Be prepared to perform 32 measures (no longer than 1 minute) of any song that highlights your voice. This should be a Broadway-type song. You should sing with karaoke-type music (no vocals) on your phone, iPod, or CD. There will not be an accompanist.
  • Monologue: You should perform a monologue no longer than 1 minute that demonstrates your acting ability (you may be cut off).
  • Dress to dance: A short piece of choreography will be taught and performed as part of the audition process.
  • Audition Form: Found on our database at ActingUpdb.com. Please create an account and enter all your information, including conflicts. ALL conflicts must be reported at auditions.
  • Photo: Bring a recent photo that looks like you, that you do not need to be returned. No need at all for professional photos, a selfie is fine. It is merely to help the casting board recall who is who.

Roald Dahl’s MATILDA Runs Sept. 20-22

ACTUP_MatildaRoald Dahl’s MATILDA
Acting Up
Sept. 20-22
Mason High School Theater

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other’s lives, as Miss Honey begins not only to recognize but also appreciate Matilda’s extraordinary personality. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!

Volunteer Movers Needed for Storage Facility Fire Cleanup at ActingUp on Aug. 10

ACTUP-logoIf you haven’t heard, after a devastating fire at our building/storage facility, Acting Up has found a new temporary facility to lease in Mason and a great group of volunteers got it cleaned up and ready! Other community theater groups have been great about donating some items to start to make up for what we lost.

This Saturday, Aug. 10, we are going to continue collecting those items along with some of our items that groups have graciously allowed us to store in their facilities. We are looking for helpers to move.  Please let us know if you are available.

Attached is a sign up genius so that you can sign up for the portion (or the whole day) that best suits your schedule. We are moving some items in a storage unit near KI.  We also have items we are getting from Cincinnati Christian School and The Drama Workshop.

Thank you for your consideration.
We appreciate you!

Set Build Space Sought by Acting Up

ACTUP-logoActing Up has lost the use of our storage/building facility to a fire last Friday night.

We are now looking for a space to build for our upcoming musical MATILDA.

We are looking for space at least 500 sq ft. starting in July through September 13. We would prefer electricity and water. Even better if you have power tools, (ie. a table saw, etc) that we could borrow.

Please let us know if you have any suggestions or leads. Thanks in advance.
