Auditions Announced for THE ADDAMS FAMILY at Acting Up

ACTUP-logoWho: Anyone ages 6-18 years old. Please note that we are breaking out the auditions into 10 years old and under, and 10 years old and older. If you are 10 and have experience, I would go with the older group. Also, if you are over the age of 10 and are looking for an ensemble role, you may attend the 10 and under audition group.

When: Monday May 16 or Tuesday May 17, 6:00-9:00 pm. You will sign up for a 20 minute spot, but the entire audition will take about 45 minutes.

Where: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7701 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, OH 45236 (By the Kenwood Mall)

What to prepare and bring:

  • Song: Be prepared to perform 32 measures (no longer than 1 minute) of any song that highlights your voice. This should be a Broadway-type song. You preferably should sing with karaoke-type music (no vocals,) on your phone, iPod or CD or you may sing a-cappella. There will not be an accompanist.
  • Monologue: You should perform a monologue of 1-2 minutes that demonstrates your acting ability and range. (you may be cut off)
  • Dress to dance.
  • Please bring a completed Audition Form Found at www.ActingUp.com. Please make sure that all of your conflicts are listed at the large arrow.
  • Photo: Bring a recent photo that looks like you, that you do not need returned. No need at all for professional photos. It is merely to help the casting board recall who is who.
  • Show info: The weird and wonderful family you know from TV comes to devilishly delightful life in this musical. This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, and Drama Desk Award winner Andrew Lippa.

THE ADDAMS FAMILY features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Performances are scheduled to be Sept. 23-25 at the Mason High School Theater.
