2020-2021 Season Announced by Fairfield Footlighters

fflFairfield Footlighters is pleased to announce their 2020-21 Season, starting with THE SUNSHINE BOYS by America’s playwright, Neil Simon. Directed by Richard Zenk and opening late September, this show is a classic comedy as two aging vaudevillians get one more chance at the spotlight.

In November, get your deerstalker cap on — the play’s afoot! Comedic genius Ken Ludwig transforms Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic The Hound of the Baskervilles into a murderously funny adventure with KEN LUDWIG’S BASKERVILLE: A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY, directed by Kevin Noll.

In February, Anna Schindler directs Louisa May Alcott’s timeless story of coming of age and the importance of honesty, hard work, and true love. Home and family come to light in Thomas Hischak’s stage adaptation of the beloved novel, LITTLE WOMEN.

Finally, the season ends with the musical, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, directed by Nicholas Brown, which provides a backstory for the characters of Peter Pan, Mrs Darling, Tinker Bell and Hook, and serves as a prequel to J. M. Barrie’s Peter and Wendy.

Fairfield Footlighters is proud to be a former Grant Recipient of the Fairfield Community Foundation.

THE SUNSHINE BOYS
Sep 18, 2020 – Sep 27, 2020
Written by Neil Simon
Directed by Richard Zenk

Al Lewis and Willy Clark are a pair of feuding vaudeville comedians who performed together for 47 years before finally calling it quits. A network genius then has the brilliant idea of reuniting the duo for a TV special about the history of comedy. Once the reunion is on, the sparks and one-liners start to fly with equal speed. Enjoy this audience favorite where hilarity abounds in this comedy of showbiz and friendship.

All Ages. Presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals

Ken Ludwig’s BASKERVILLE: A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY
Nov 13, 2020 – Nov 22, 2020
Written by Ken Ludwig
Directed by Kevin Noll

Sherlock Holmes is on the case. The male heirs of the Baskerville line are being dispatched one by one. To find their ingenious killer, Holmes and Watson must brave the desolate moors before a family curse dooms its newest heir. Watch as our intrepid investigators try to escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises, and deceit as five actors deftly portray more than forty characters. Does a wild hellhound prowl the moors of Devonshire? Can our heroes discover the truth in time? Join the fun and see how far from elementary the truth can be.

LITTLE WOMEN
Feb 19, 2021 – Feb 28, 2021
Written by Thomas Hischak
Directed by Anna Schindler Brown

In 1860’s New England, we see the lives of the four March daughters – Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy – play out before us and follow their triumphs and tragedies as they grow up, fall in love, and face life. With their chaplain father away serving in the Civil War and their mother doing all she can to hold things together at home, the girls employ creativity and courage to help their mother while pursuing their own passions—Jo’s writing, Amy’s art, Beth’s service to the poor, and Meg’s pursuit to become a proper young lady. Next-door neighbor Theodore “Laurie” Laurence, a lonely but charming teen, can’t resist the energy and grace of these little women and helps them to endure one trial after another.

All Ages. Presented by arrangement with Dramatic Publishing.

PETER AND THE STARCATCHER
May 21, 2021 – May 30, 2021
A Play by Rick Elice
Based on the Novel by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson
Music by Wayne Barker
Directed by Nicholas Brown

A young orphan and his mates are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain’s cabin, which contains a precious, otherworldly cargo. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training who realizes that the trunk’s precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates – led by the fearsome Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own – the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure.

All Ages. Presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International.

2020-2021 Season Announced by Falcon Theatre

FT_logoFalcon Announces 2020-2021 Season

Our doors may be closed, but we at Falcon Theatre have been hard at work, planning for a day in the not-too-distant future when we welcome back our friends and family to the theater. In the interim period, we have produced some online content (with more to follow) for the public’s enjoyment.

As you know, social distancing requirements and other restrictions have been detrimental to the livelihood of many businesses; this is especially true for arts organizations like Falcon that typically rely on audience gatherings for survival.

Many of our patrons have asked how they can help Falcon weather this unanticipated storm. A great way to do just that is to purchase a Falcon Theatre Flex Pass. You’ll provide Falcon with some much-needed income, and you’ll also have your tickets ready for next season when our doors open. Flex Passes purchased now will remain valid for the entire 2020-2021 season.

We at Falcon are proud to announce our slate of plays for the 2020-2021 season. First things first: For all of us who were heartbroken that our productions of The Agitators and Silent Sky didn’t make it onto the Falcon stage, you’ll be happy to know that those two shows were not canceled…merely postponed. These two amazing shows will get their time on the Falcon stage during our 2020-21 season.

THE AGITATORS by Mat Smart
A riveting story about the friendship that persisted through the years between Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass as both fought tirelessly for the rights of others.  The play struggles with the question “Do you believe there can be a country for all?”

August 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 & 29, 2020

DAISY by Sean Devine
Based on true events, Daisy explores the moment in television history that launched the age of negative advertising, and forever changed how we elect our leaders. War was the objective. Peace was the bait. Everyone got duped.

September 25, 26, October 1, 2, 3, 8, 9 & 10, 2020

SILENT SKY by Lauren Gunderson
The true story of 19th-century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt explores a woman’s place in society during a time of immense scientific discoveries, when women’s ideas were dismissed until men claimed credit for them. Social progress, like scientific progress, can be hard to see when one is trapped among earthly complications; Henrietta Leavitt and her female peers believe in both, and their dedication changed the way we understand both the heavens and Earth.

November 20, 21, 27, 28, December 3, 4 & 5, 2020

BETRAYAL by Harold Pinter
Moving backward in time, from the end of an affair to its beginning, the play throws into relief the little lies and oblique remarks that, in this time-reverse, reveal more than direct statements, or overt actions, ever could.

January 22, 23, 28, 29, 30, February 4, 5 & 6, 2021

WELL by Lisa Kron
Well is about the mystery of human personalities, told through an hysterical art-performance-gone-wrong, proving that the people you think you know intimately are often the hardest to know at all.

March 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, April 1, 2 & 3, 2021

BEN BUTLER by Richard Strand
When an escaped slave shows up at Fort Monroe demanding sanctuary, General Benjamin Butler is faced with an impossible moral dilemma—follow the letter of the law or make a game-changing move that could alter the course of U.S. history?

May 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 & 22, 2021

We’re so eager to have people back at the theater to share these amazing productions with us. Again, please consider purchasing a Flex Pass (falcontheater.net/tickets-information/flex-passes/ ).  Your support keeps Falcon Theatre strong now and in the future.

Thank you for keeping the arts alive.

Sincerely,

Ted Weil
Producing Artistic Director

2020-2021 Season Updated at Cincy Shakes

CSC_logoCincinnati Shakespeare Company is thrilled to announce that the 2020-2021 Season will now open with our much awaited production of HAMLET featuring Sara Clark Rose as Hamlet and will close with a reopening of our production of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. The past season was The Season of the Woman and our productions of HAMLET and “Pride and Prejudice” were centerpieces of this initiative. When we had to close and cancel these productions, we keenly felt their loss. So, today we are thrilled to share that we are now planning to bring these productions back to share with audiences next season!

HAMLET will be in place of the previously planned production of NETWORK which will be moved to a future season. And with so many unknowns still this summer, we have also made the decision to postpone the planned July 2020 production of BORN YESTERDAY.

This means that Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s Grand Reopening and start of the 2020-2021 Season will be with HAMLET from August 28 – September 26, 2020 and will close with PRIDE AND PREJUDICE from June 4 – July 3, 2021.
