There’s magic to do when a prince learns the true meaning of glory, love and war in Stephen Schwartz’s iconic and unforgettable musical masterpiece. Pippin is the story of one young man’s journey to be extraordinary. Winner of four 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, this updated version continues to captivate the young and the young-at-heart throughout the world.  Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince seeks fulfillment in all the ‘expected’ ways – the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father, King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the un-extraordinary moments that happen every day. The musical features one of Stephen Schwarz’s best scores, including songs like Corner of the SkyNo Time At All and Magic to Do!

Lost in the fog, a stranger seeks refuge in a nearby house, only to find a man shot dead and his wife standing over him with a smoking gun. But the woman’s dazed confession is anything but convincing, and the unexpected guest decides to help. Remarkably, the police clues point to a man who died two years previously, but as the ghosts of a past wrong begin to emerge, a tangled web of lies reveals family secrets and chilling motives, where the real murderer turns out to be the greatest mystery of all.

Character:

  • Richard Warwick – Dead (no lines – great for someone wanting to get started in community theatre acting)
  • Laura Warwick – Kind and caring. Richard Warwick’s wife.
  • Michael Starkwedder – Rugged outdoor look. Not polished but quick thinker
  • Miss Bennett – Organized, alert, and nosey. Runs the household.
  • Jan Warwick – Excitable young man with an innocent sweetness about him. Eyes dart and add sly look to him.
  • Mrs. Warwick – commanding and alert with a strong personality.
  • Henry Angell – Manservant with proper manners but shifty untrusting personality.
  • Sergeant Cadwallader – Poetic and soft spoken. Somewhat unobserving
  • Inspector Thomas – Good poker face with dry sarcastic attitude.

MR. BURNS: A Post Electric Play is Anne Washburn’s imaginative dark comedy which propels us forward nearly a century, following a new civilization stumbling into its future. After the collapse of civilization, a group of survivors share a campfire and begin to piece together the plot of “The Simpsons” episode “Cape Feare” entirely from memory. 7 years later, this and other snippets of pop culture (sitcom plots, commercials, jingles, and pop songs) have become the live entertainment of a post-apocalyptic society, sincerely trying to hold onto its past. 75 years later, these are the myths and legends from which new forms of performance are created. A paean to live theater, and the resilience of Bart Simpson through the ages, Mr. Burns is an animated exploration of how the pop culture of one era might evolve into the mythology of another.
