OUR WORLD and THE REWRITE on March 10

CPI_logoOUR WORLD and THE REWRITE
Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative
March 10
Aronoff Center Fifth Third Bank Theatre [Downtown]

Three related scenes — Bang, BangAisle 3, Seat 7Thoughts & Prayers — under the umbrella title OUR WORLD comprise the first part. The plays by Jim Flavin add up to tragedy emanating from our country’s besetting sin of greed.

The evening’s Part Two is Gray Shaw’s THE REWRITE, which is just what the title says it is.  A playwright constantly tinkers with his work, frustrating his characters and pushing them toward comedic rebellion.

Wilmington College Theatre
Feb. 27-29
Boyd Cultural Arts Center [Wilmington]

THE BOYS NEXT DOOR is a poignant comedy by Tom Griffin about four men living in a group home for people with disabilities. In brief vignettes, the play offers humorous and touching commentary on the lives of the four men and their earnest, but increasingly “burned out” social worker. From date night dances and impromptu puppet shows to workplace bullies and disappointed fathers, we see how all the characters navigate their way through a constantly changing world.
