Inspired by a true story, Bright Star tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past—and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. With beautiful melodies and powerfully moving characters, Bright Star is as refreshingly genuine as it is daringly hopeful.

Dr. Seuss’ HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL features the hit songs “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” (written by Albert Hague and Dr. Seuss) from the original animated series. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets (John Lee Beatty) and costumes (Robert Morgan) inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, while the Music and Book of Mel Marvin and Timothy Mason breathe new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. The 2018 production is directed by Matt August and choreographed by Bob Richard based on the original choreography by John DeLuca and originally created by three-time Tony Award® winning director, Jack O’Brien. Ages 5 and up.

The work is inspired by the artistry of jewelry designer Claude Arpels. The ballet is presented in three acts, distinctive in mood with music performed by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Emeralds, the first section, evokes the 19th century dances of French Romantics and features the music of Fauré. Rubies is contemporary, witty and fiery, presenting great contrast to the first act and is a tribute to the collaboration of Balanchine and Stravinsky. Diamonds recalls the grandeur of Imperial Russia where Balanchine grew up and trained. The act is the most majestic of the three and is more purely classical, utilizing music from Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 3.
