Auditions Announced for Bruiser & Rufus in LEGALLY, BLONDE at Footlighters, Inc.

FLI_logoCalling all dogs!  Footlighters announces dog auditions for “Legally Blonde the Musical”: The Search for Bruiser & Rufus.

Does your dog have what it takes to take the stage by pink storm?  Does their performance in the neighborhood give your friends and family “paws”?  Well, bring them down to the Stained Glass Theatre in Newport, KY on Sunday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m. to strut their stuff at our dog auditions! Click here to reserve an audition slot.

Footlighters has cast the human roles and now we’re ready to cast the real stars – the dogs!  We are seeking two dogs and their owners/guardians to volunteer to be part of our upcoming production of “Legally Blonde the Musical.”

Both dogs need to be house trained, spayed/neutered (we don’t want any casting couch shenanigans!), and have a relaxed and easy-going temperament.  They should be comfortable around large groups of people, loud noises and music, bright lights, and other dogs.

ROLES:

Bruiser – Elle Woods’ lap dog such as a Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Terrier, etc.  Appears in multiple scenes and will need to be able to:

  • Bark on command
  • Run out on stage off leash
  • Be picked up and carried around
  • Respond to commands from the actors playing Elle and Margo such as “come,” “sit,” and “stay.”

Rufus – Paulette’s dog, medium sized Bulldog, Boxer, or other breed of similar look.  Appears in multiple scenes and will need to be able to:

  • Run toward a person off leash
  • Respond to commands from the actors playing Elle and Paulette such as “come,” “sit,” and “stay.”

BREAKING THE CODE Runs March 15-30

23-24_FTSeason_Final_SocialBannersBREAKING THE CODE
Falcon Theatre
March 15-30
[Newport]

Directed by Ed Cohen

Cast: Ted Weil as Mick Ross, Rick Grant-Coons as Alan Turning, Parker Culp as Christopher Morcom, Linda Callahan as Sara Turing, Lawson Smith as Ron Miller, Ron Cropper as John Smith, Forrest Fairley as Dillwyn Know, Rachel Mock as Pat Green & Elias Dean as Nikos

Derek Jacobi took London and Broadway by storm in this exceptional biographical drama about a man who broke too many codes: the eccentric genius Alan Turing who played a major role in winning the World War II; he broke the complex German code called Enigma, enabling allied forces to foresee German maneuvers. Since his work was classified top secret for years after the war, no one knew how much was owed to him when he was put on trial for breaking another code the taboo against homosexuality. Turing, who was also the first to conceive of computers, was convicted of the criminal act of homosexuality and sentenced to undergo hormone treatments which left him physically and mentally debilitated. He died a suicide, forgotten and alone. This play is about who he was, what happened to him and why.
