Based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love; or The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy, a Caribbean-set retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Little Mermaid, this theatrical adaptation features music by CCM alumnus Stephen Flaherty (BM Composition, ’82). Ti Moune, a peasant girl, rescues Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of the island, and falls in love with him. Unbeknownst to Ti Moune, the pompous gods who preside over the island make a bet with one another over which is stronger, love or death, the stakes being Ti Moune’s life. This Tony Award-winning musical shares the epic story of a woman who travels far and wide to reunite with the man who has captured her heart.

RENT is the world-famous musical that tells the story of a group of friends struggling to survive in NYC surrounded by poverty, drug addiction and the AIDS epidemic at the end of the 20th century. The show is viewed through the lens of Mark Cohen, the common bond of the group and narrator of the show. It features such Broadway staples like, “Take Me or Leave Me,” “Out Tonight,” “One Song Glory” and “Seasons of Love.”
