PIP Seeks Technical Direction Intern

PIP_logoPosition: Technical Direction Internship

The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park seeks a technical direction intern for the 2013-14 season, Sept. 3, 2013 to April 30, 2014. This is an opportunity to work under the close supervision of and learn from the technical direction staff at one of the country’s leading theatres. Under the direction of the staff, the TD intern will primarily be learning the planning, budgeting, technical design and subsequent AutoCAD drafting of the five main stage and five second stage productions. Other learning opportunities may include run crew, some scenery construction, wiring and programming of automation systems and inventory management. Successful applicants will be proficient with 2d AutoCAD, have a technical production background and be a self-motivated team player willing to learn. Monthly stipend; no housing provided.

MCP Seeks Boys Ages 7-12 for THE MUSIC MAN

MCP_logoThe Mason Community Players are in need of boys for their summer musical, THE MUSIC MAN. If you know of any boys, ages 7-12, who would be interested, please ask them to contact me, Debbie Wesolowski, 478-3058, or by email, debtheater@gmail.com.

If they want minimal commitment, they could appear only in the final scene as a member of the boys’ band. If they wish, we would be happy to have them in the other town scenes throughout the play. The play runs July 18-21, and we are in rehearsal right now.

Rehearsal Pianist Needed For ACTUP’s CHILDREN OF EDEN

ACTUP_logoActing Up (the young performers community theater based in Mason, OH) is looking for a rehearsal pianist for their upcoming production of “Children of Eden.” Rehearsals are set to start approximately July 21 (Mon-Thurs 6:30-8:30 and Sundays 2-5)and the performances are Sept. 27-29. Of course, the rehearsal pianist would not be needed at all these dates.

TCT Seeks Experienced Freelance Carpenter/Scenic Artist

TCT_logoThe Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati is looking for an experienced freelance carpenter/scenic artist who can help build and paint scenery for four MainStage productions, a fundraising gala, and five small touring shows. Works directly with our resident set designer/TD in our fully-equipped scene shop.

Duties include, but are not limited to: layout, carpentry, basic scene painting, and equipment maintenance. Welding skills a plus! New Improv Group at Drama Workshop

TDW_VERTThe Drama Workshop is starting an Improv group and is seeking members who have an interest in learning and preforming short form Improv. Experienced and those interested in learning are encouraged to attend.

Also, we are trying to have our first performance on June 27th as part of a fundraiser.

Here is the list of rehearsal dates in preparation for June 27th. Rehearsals will be held at TDW’s new space at the Gilmore Playhouse:

  • June 1 3pm
  • June 8 3pm
  • June 15 3pm
  • June 19 7pm (Sat June 22 is West Fest and building will be in use)
  • June 25 7pm our last chance rehearsal before June 27 8pm performance. We can decide on June 19 if we want to keep this date… if we are confident (well relatively speaking), then we can cancel this date. 

Come to rehearsals when you can, but if you are planning on joining the performance, we ask that you come to at least 3 rehearsals. We need to feel out the group and start creating some trust with each person’s style.

For our performance, we would like to plan for roughly an hour Everyone’s ideas are welcome. We are trying to build the performance with a mix of improve games and scenes.
