Call for Director Sumbissions for Beechmont Players Inc.’s 2016-2017 Season

BPI_logoBeechmont Players, Inc., is seeking directors to direct in the Beechmont Players’ 2016-2017 season.

As the Arts Organization in Residence at the Anderson Center, BPI has the privilege of presenting its productions in the Anderson Center’s beautiful 223-seat proscenium theater.  With our large audience base, BPI typically fills this theater with approximately 1,000 audience-members over each production’s run.  BPI now has a storage/build facility, where set designers and builders can take full advantage of the theater’s plentiful stage space by building the set in advance.  This space can even allow rehearsals on the set at the build facility.  BPI welcomes directors, design teams, and crew-members new to our group, while maintaining an active and talented membership that is ready to step up to help make each show a success.

Interested in joining us for our 57th season?  Please submit up to five plays and/or musicals that you would like to direct in BPI’s 2016-2017 season.  If scripts for the shows you are presenting are not available at the Hamilton County Public Library, please submit a copy for the Play Reading Committee (if you do not have a copy and would like assistance obtaining a copy, please let me know).  Please consider the group, our audience, and our theater when suggesting shows to present.  For additional information about our group and a list of our productions since 2008, please visit our website at www.beechmontplayers.org.

If you are interested in submitting to direct at Beechmont, contact Wayne Kirsch at wayne@beechmontplayers.org.  An Application form will be sent to you.  Please fill out and return this Application, along with a current theatrical resume, by November 2, 2015.  You may submit these items by snail mail at the address above, or via e-mail to wayne@beechmontplayers.org.  Please indicate your availability for production dates, as well as your availability for Director Interviews on the Director Application.

Please note that the group would like to produce at least one musical in the 2016-2017 season.  Also, we prefer the Summer production be a family-friendly show.  This does not necessarily need to be a show with children in it, but should at least be appropriate for children to watch, and it can be a musical or not.

For the Director Interviews, you will be asked to present up to three shows, though the Play-Reading Committee may ask you about the other two shows you submitted.  Director Interviews will take place on Sunday afternoon, November 29, and Monday evening, November 30.

Thank you for your interest in Beechmont Players, Inc.  I look forward to receiving your submission!

Sincerely,

Wayne Kirsch, VP Shows
Beechmont Players, Inc.

Actor Needed for THE MYSTERY PLAYS at Falcon Theatre

FT_logoFalcon Theatre is looking for one actor to complete our cast for THE MYSTERY PLAYS.  The role calls for a male, age 18-40.

Actors interested in auditioning for the role should send a headshot and resume to Artistic Director, Ted Weil at tweil@falcontheater.net.  Rehearsals will begin immediately.

Performance dates: November 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 & 21, 2015

About the play:
THE MYSTERY PLAYS is two interrelated one acts. In the first play, The Filmmaker’s Mystery, Joe Manning, a director of horror films, survives a terrible train wreck—only to be haunted by the ghost of Nathan West, one of the passengers who didn’t survive. As the police investigate Joe, he investigates Nathan, desperate to understand why he survived and what Nathan’s specter could possible want. In the second play, Ghost Children, Abby Gilly travels to a small town in rural Oregon to make peace with the man who brutally murdered her parents and younger sister sixteen years earlier. The man—the murderer—is her older brother. Like the original medieval mystery plays, The Mystery Plays wrestles with the most profound of human ideas: the mysteries of death, the afterlife, religion, faith, and forgiveness—in a uniquely American way.
