Cast Announced for FEAST at Know Theatre

HRTC_Joplin-Jennifer-2017

Jennifer Joplin.

Know Theatre of Cincinnati promised you that we’d bring you breaking news before the ink on the contract was dry, and we are so excited to deliver on that promise! Starring in our upcoming season opener FEAST will be local stage star Jennifer Joplin, who has appeared previously at the Know as Terry, the spiky, struggling mom in last season’s Girl in the Red Corner (pictured at left with the cast of the show), and as Virginie, the hermit/taxidermist of 2018’s The Man-Beast. Jennifer’s one-woman show, The MILF Also Rises, premiered at the 2019 Cincinnati Fringe Festival to much acclaim and sold-out houses.

FEAST is an invitation to break bread with one of the seminal monsters of literature: Grendel’s Mother, from the Anglo-Saxon epic Beowulf. As her companion, you share in her hard-won victories and shattering griefs, and as she gazes on the twenty-first century with the full power of her incandescent fury and all-consuming love, she becomes a beacon of the power it takes to burn away injustice and build a better wold.

We’re not quite ready to open our Jackson Street doors again, so FEAST will be only available to watch online. We know some of you have already been dabbling in the recent digital-theatre boom, but we’re pretty sure this show isn’t going to be quite like anything you’ve seen yet.

FEAST will be available to stream August 7 – Sept 20. Tickets will be available to purchase next week!

Casts Announced for THE COMPLETE WORKS OF SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) [REVISED] at The Drama Workshop

TDW_VERTTDW announces two casts for “The Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged)[revised]”

The Drama Workshop is happy to announce the casting for their summer production of “The Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged) [revised]” currently scheduled to run August 7 – 23 at the Glenmore Playhouse.

In a clever twist on the tradition approach for the play, Director Becky Collins has cast both an all-male and an all-female cast for the production.  The male cast will consist of Chris Bishop, Eric Thomas and Joshua Van Nort. The female cast features Peggy Allen, Patricia Mullins and Lindsey Pullum. The performers were cast via online auditions and call backs and will alternate performances throughout an expanded run of the play that will feature fourteen performances rather than the normal ten performances.

Dennis Murphy, TDW’s Production Vice President, applauds director Collins’ willingness to stage and rehearse two casts for this show. “Using two completely different casts will require more rehearsal time for Becky and assistant director Betsy Bossart, but it gives audiences the choice between two fresh and interesting ways to enjoy this modern and inventive comedy classic.”

Alternating casts is just one of the many changes TDW is adopting in order to keep production staff, cast members and audiences safe. The board of TDW has developed policies for both rehearsals and performances that allow TDW to meet all current standards for sanitizing and social distancing. The expanded performance schedule was adopted because the house size will be limited in order to allow six feet of space between audience parties. Additional measures will be taken in the house, lobby and ticketing operations to reduce the risk of infectious spread, and keep everyone safe, relaxed, and able to have a great time.

Jason Cox will design the show’s sound cues as well as produce the show. Dennis Murphy serves as assistant producer and lighting designer. CJ Bossart will design the set and serve as master carpenter.  Elaine Volker and David Karsner will provide props.

The Drama Workshop applauds Becky, Betsy, Jason, the production staff and the cast members for their courage to participate in TDW’s first pandemic-era production.

  • Alan – Fred Murrell
  • Annette – Katie Jensen
  • Michael – Evan Blanton
  • Veronica – Traci Taylor

This cast’s performance is expected to be available online Sunday, May 24 for one day only.

  • Alan – Chris Bishop
  • Annette – Heather Abbott
  • Michael – Darren Lee
  • Veronica – Linda Callahan

The play by Yasmina Reza (Art) won the Tony Award for Best Play and runs about 90 minutes. Note there is an advisory of Strong Language. The comedy’s inciting incident is a playground altercation between eleven-year-old boys, which brings together two sets of parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the alcohol flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their principles in tatters..

Per the agreement with the play publisher, patrons need to purchase tickets to view the shows online. In light of the country’s economic situation, we offer PAY WHAT YOU CAN tickets. The suggested donation is $10 per viewing, which you would donate directly to a Greater Cincinnati community theater of your choice.

For instructions on how to view the performance(s), email equalityproductions@gmail.com with the production(s) you want to watch (i.e., cast of 5/23 and/or cast of 5/24).
